Confirmed with Link: Jeff Blashill named Blackhawks Head Coach

Who was the coach in the 2015 Cup Final for Chicago?
Who was the coach in the 2015 Cup Final for Tampa Bay?

I'm aware Cooper lost head to head vs Q in 2015.

I'm also aware their record head to head in the playoffs is 1-1.

I'm not sure what the communication breakdown is here...

NHL experience as I wanted. Here's hoping Detroit been a crap was because players and not coaching.

Suprised that assistant coaches change much because PP and PK were top 10 all season.
They were already on the downswing when he came. Detroit was paying the toll for constantly being in the playoffs and not picking high and they got boned in the lottery in their worst years. This is the lineup he had in his final year. Bit much expecting them to be competitive

Ah, I didn't realize I said "the only time", thats where Im mistaken.

Ah. Happens to the best of us.

Glad to clear it up, I was generally confused and starting to think 'did I imagine that series in 2021?'

For the record, I think Q is an excellent coach (even if I think he's a rotten person). His faults as far as roster management bothered me enough by the end that I got big 'grass is greener' energy. I don't see a lot of the same faults in Cooper, but I bet there are/were Lightning fans ready and eager to describe all Coopers faults as well before the Lighting got over the hump.

One thing I will say about Q... he's a lot like Babcock as far as his record of assistant coaches going on to NHL coaching careers despite decades in the league. Which is to say, it's a wasteland. Brunette looked like he might be the first, and he's flailing in Nashville. So even though I'm unexcited about the Blashill hiring, I think a Cooper disciple has a greater chance of success... albeit a low bar to clear.

Yeah, I didnt mean to come off as combative, I was just really confused as to why you were questioning them matching up in 2015, and thought I was going crazy.

I think both are great coaches, and for me, it's tough to determine which coach is better unless you have personally played for them or worked with them. Even then, different players can have different experiences. I've had coaches other players thought were great that I hated.

Q is 2nd all time in wins as a coach. We'll see what Cooper's W% is now that Tampa begins it's inevitable decline. Cooper seems like an arrogant guy who capitalized on a strange path to Cups during COVID.

He's only 'meh' for me right now because I'm reminded that it's normal to dislike your coach and I'd probably dislike almost any option that we ended up with.

By the time the season starts, I'll probably forget about that rationality and just start complaining, joining the overwhelming majority of NHL fanbases in their hatred of their coaching staff.

I was just being silly.

I shoulda put a :P

Q hired Kompon and Kitchen

Dont recall such a goodwill towards Q's assistant coaches despite 3 cup wins

But yet Blashill is given thumbs up because Cooper hired him to be an assistant? Also being Assistant for good coach doesn't mean anything

Look at Matt Nagy for example in recent Chicago history

-- Kompon has won stanley cups under Sutter, Q and Maurice for record as Assistant, yet people here still trash him --
Hawks never had a good power play during the Q era outside of Panarin rookie year. Despite all the talent the hate for Qs coaches was warranted even the PK had a stretch where they were rocking a sub 50% which lead to Kitchen being fired.

A erase tenure for NHL coaches has co e down to 1.99 years.

Coaches hired to be fired...Not sure how long the rope willbe for Blashill..but probably he must steer Hawks to a mid-league finish by end of 26/27 season...if stuck then still in bottom10,it could be a short stint for Blashill with no year 3...

..

Thats 99% likely to be because Nazar, the above PPG 1st line player left Rockford, other than anything coaching.
Watching the Rockford game the team as a whole dropped off after Sorenson, Eaton did not do a good job and is not a coach. Losing Nazar contributed sure but everyone suffered
