Confirmed with Link: Jeff Blashill named Blackhawks Head Coach

Q hired Kompon and Kitchen

Dont recall such a goodwill towards Q's assistant coaches despite 3 cup wins

But yet Blashill is given thumbs up because Cooper hired him to be an assistant? Also being Assistant for good coach doesn't mean anything

Look at Matt Nagy for example in recent Chicago history

-- Kompon has won stanley cups under Sutter, Q and Maurice for record as Assistant, yet people here still trash him --
I know I wont get a decent response, but what don't you like about Blashills coaching philosophies? Specify what is bad about him, and who you would have chosen instead.

Not a name I would have circled at the start of this process but here's hoping it's a good choice

I don't put much stock in Detroit fans not liking him. Fans will blame the coach of a struggling team by reflex and he inherited an aging roster that was strung out for too long which transitioned into one of the slowest moving, least exciting rebuilds we've ever seen. And they certainly didn't take off when he was let go.

Okay lets go. Hes not a name that is going to scare off any free agents.

Glad we didnt go 1st time head coach if it wasnt Carle. Glad we didnt go Torts Cronin Laviolette or Bylsma.

Let see what he can do.

Someone in the main boards thread yesterday said something along the lines of "there are only like 5 total fanbases right now that don't hate their coach" and that's about as truthful a fact as you'll read on HF. Even if we added Sullivan or Carle, I'm not sure the majority would've liked their performance after a few months.

Blashill is a very meh pick for me right now. I'm waiting to hear his interview to get a firmer grasp on how I should feel about him at this point. But I'm not expecting much and I wouldn't expect much out of almost anyone the Hawks went with. It's up to him and his new coaching staff to surprise us.

Also, he was coaching some awful Wings teams during an era where they were tearing things down. This Hawks team isn't great, but we're not tearing things down at this point, we're trying to build things up. That's a big difference. Not to mention coaches generally perform better on their 2nd and 3rd attempts than what they were able to accomplish on their 1st opportunities.

Are you admitting Q made a mistake?

So what you are saying is, you are part of the "5 total" that don't hate their coach?

He's only 'meh' for me right now because I'm reminded that it's normal to dislike your coach and I'd probably dislike almost any option that we ended up with.

By the time the season starts, I'll probably forget about that rationality and just start complaining, joining the overwhelming majority of NHL fanbases in their hatred of their coaching staff.

Tocchet was a shit coach, until his rosters weren't shit and then he was a good coach. People put way too much stock into coaches. Rosters matter 100x more.

Tocchet is still a shit coach

He has made playoffs 2 of his 9 years coaching and has been fired or (Mutual parting of ways) with 3 organizations now

Oh and Tocchet lost control of Nucks locker-room this past year

I saw that comment and it stuck with me too.

Unless you're making conference finals, people will find a way to complain about the coach whether it's valid or not.

I thought the whole point of not picking Sorenson was so he could develop prospects in Rockford

?
I'm guessing his role here will be handling the young kids, especially the lesser known ones (not guys like Bedard and Nazar) so Blashill doesn't have to spend as much time trying to get them on the same page as the rest of the team.
