This group is done. It’s over. Last year was the year, and now it’s done.

The defense is awful. Just unplayable. 8 and 55 need to go. I don’t know how you fix this midseason.
Nothing will be fixed in the middle of the season. Best outcome would be to miss the playoffs and get an actual #1 C in the draft

Mika on pace to finish the season -50 or so

I am dealing with medical, professional, and family challenges all at the same time, and this is my first post in weeks because of that. I was hoping hockey, a sport I have followed very closely since I was five years old, would help take my mind off those things.

I am a fan of the New York Rangers.

There's my problem right there.
Hockey means very little in the big picture…I hope you are doing okay man.

If he trades Kreider first for the "big-breakup" MID-SEASON of all things, he's a genuine f***ing idiot and I'm going to stop watching for the remainder of the season to save myself the mental distress. Chris was immediately one of my favorites the very moment he came up and he's part of the reason I am even a Hockey fan. There's a long list of guys that should get the boot before Kreider does and I don't think I could handle seeing him leave.

Absolutely. Would get a decent haul for him and would avoid locking up a goalie at 12M long term.
He plays on average 55 games per season.
At 12.5 that the equivalent of giving a skater 16.6 million over 82 games.
The current highest paid skater in the league is making 14 million per.
Is Igor 19% more valuable to a team than:
Leon Drasiasatl
Austin Matthews
Nathan MacKinnon
Connor McDavid

Honestly, you guys looked really good against Vancouver a few games back, so what exactly is going on in New York right now?

On paper, the Rangers look amazing, you have talent, and basically every single position, as someone who does not watch New York Rangers often, what’s the issue right now?

Also time to get Trocheck away from Panarin so he can find his game. Give him two 'meat and potatoes' wingers and get them to be a line that just outworks their opponent every shift. We are light on for options in that respect, but maybe something like:
Edstrom-Tro-Smith/Vesey
Cuylle-KK-Berard
Panarin-Mika-Laf
Brodz-Carrick-Vesey/Smith

and then swap out CK fro Edstrom when he's back

We f***ing jest about it
..but it seriously begs the question now: is getting rid of Kreider what's going to take to make Mika give us a tram or two he's willing to be traded to?

Comprehensively outworked and out played once again. Something really does have to give. Our defensive structure is just non-existent for both forwards and D-men, and we really aren't generating enough quality chances or building sustained pressure. Even the much vaunted PP has looked wildly pedestrian lately.

Cuylle continues to lead by example, I though Berard looked good for his first game especially coming into a bit of a messy situation, and KK looked good. Everyone else was shades of 'meh' to 'downright crap'.

Trouba and Lindgren somehow manage to bring out the worst in each other, and Mika looks like he knows its over for him here (nice pass on the 2nd goal though) but doesn't know what that means.

If the 'core' is done/rotten, it's time for guys like Laf, Fox and Trocheck to stand up. Set the example and start putting the team on your back.
Trocheck has arguably been one of their worst players all season, I’m not sure he has the ability to do much of anything.

There are too many things going wrong with this team to capture it all in a post. It's sad to say, but it might be time to take the keys away from the old timers.

This is the worst stretch of hockey this franchise has played in years.

Berard and Jones looked good. Cuylle continues to be a desperately needed breath of fresh air. Even Kakko had some moments. Panarin looks dangerous with the puck sometimes, but his line isn't getting any clean looks. Vinny has been really, really poor, and Laf is OK, but doesn't look like the player that, at the start of the season, we thought he might be this year.

The rest of the team was pathetic, no one more so than the usual suspects. Our defensemen are sinking this team, and that includes Fox, who has at best been painfully average. The rest are among the worst in the league at transporting the puck, and teams just skate right through them. Lindgren and Trouba are literal holograms. When zib plays, he looks like I do when I'm walking around in my bathrobe the morning after throwing my back out. Just infirm.

Rempe's penalty was the dumbest I've seen, but it made me laugh, so we should keep him in, even if he is bad at ice hockey.

I'm sad and annoyed. I look forward to these games and rely on them to break up the monotony of cold nights.

I don't know if I'm being dramatic, but my eyes tells me this team is cooked. It feels different than an ~~ebb~~ that Joe called it in the pregame. It's an implosion.
