Refs gave that game away in the second period.

But Utah is a ton of fun

We won’t lose many games if we score 5

Zibanejad is a real problem, he’s becoming a true detriment every shift he’s on the ice. He looks lethargic, he’s so weak on the puck, he’s always looking to make a nifty threaded pass instead of shooting the puck or making a hard direct play. He’s looked terrible for a long time now and the rangers are in a rough spot with him.

Yeah good luck getting him to waive.
I don’t expect him to. He’s comfortable here and asked for an NMC / NTC for a reason. Staying might be in his best personal interest (and there’s nothing wrong with that), but I think his career would benefit from a change.

Two games without Lindgren, two games with good underlying numbers.

I don’t get the ruling on that disallowed goal in the second. The officials argued that our player had his skates in the blue crease, but the goalie instigated contact, and the rule that let to Brett Hull’s controversial Cup winner is defunct.

Otherwise, it was an entertaining game, no doubt there. Would like to see more finish from Mika and Miller, and CK (amazing conditioning and speed from him so far!) needs more support; he can’t do it all on his own (Smith hasn’t done anything for me). The power play needs work. PK was impressive.

Still early days, though, so I won’t jump to conclusions. Utah just outplayed us.
Smith is washed.

Yeah, he's trying to feather or touch pass everything.

Odell Miller Jr should go the Dennis Rodman route and dye his hair every game. I’m starting to worry about Mika, is he on a serious fast decline? This isn’t based off of 2 games, this is basing it off of how awful he was at even strength last year and how he’s continuing to just be a non factor 5 on 5.
Yes and it was warned of

Smith is washed.
Kreider is the only player on that line with anything left

Yeah, if there's something I'm concerned about, it's this.

We've had two solid games but there's a whole line out there that I don't feel great about scoring, and he's had bad defensive breakdowns.

He's with Smith who's always been good 5v5, and Kreider who's always been great 5v5. Both Smith and Kreider have been generating chances. If Zibanejad can't play with them, he can't play with anybody.

Zibanejad is picking up where he left off last year: terrible at ES and when he's not producing on the PP, he's pretty much useless. I said it over the summer: they should've tried trading for him in a deal similar to what brought him here. I brought up Shane Wright as an example.

But besides not trading Zibanejad, let's talk about what Drury did do. In the ever-revolving door of who will be the RW for the inseparable butt-buddies, he brought in Reilly Smith, who was a fantastic player a few years ago but is coming off his worst season in the NHL since when? Before he joined Vegas? Drury thought that Smith was the missing piece that would get the butt-buddies to start producing on 5v5? The revolving door would finally be stopped with an aging Reilly Smith?

Demote his dumb ass to the 3rd line where he belongs , he can be a defensive specialist, Kreider - Chytil - Smith (or Kakko if Smith ends up sucking)

And dump him from PP1 and insert Laf.

Enough of catering to this moron.

This has been a long time coming. The writing was on the wall before we even gave him that atrocious unmoveable extension.

I’m not sure how we are gonna get out of this, we can’t even buy it out.
