Confirmed with Link: Jay Pandolfo Retires

Good for Jay
I like how he thanked all the teams he played for, just like Arnott did
as we know it didnt end great for Jay in NJ either

When I worked for the Islanders as their locker room reporter, Jay Pandolfo was the first guy I interviewed. Behind the scenes, he was a good guy that cared for his teammates and his craft. He was one of my favorite forwards along with Madden and Elias from the old days. I am grateful I got the chance to get to know him a bit (and Rolston too).

If the Devils ever did a ring of honor or had an honorary players category similar to the Isles, I would put him in there with Madden and Brylin.

Jay,

You were a great foot-soldier/grunt/whatever when you were a Devil. If you had any real scoring touch, you would've been a HOF'er by now. :sarcasm:

Enjoy retirement, buddy. :D

mid 2000's pando was the best penalty killing forward i've ever seen play in a devils sweater.

Maybe we can bring him back for a couple practices to shadow Jagr for old time's sake.

Kinda sad when another member of my favorite squad (2000) is calling it a career. Looks like Rafalski's comeback is ending as well.

Not a knock but he might be the least talented player to ever play 15 seasons and win two cups. Just goes to show you, hard work pays off.

He didn't retire, he cloned himself 20 times and sold them to Lou.

I kid. Jay was one of the best defensive forwards I've ever seen. Absolutely smothered the best of his day. Congrats Jay!

Who was the player that Pando shadowed and absolutely drove up a wall? I was thinking it was Jagr in 2006, but I could be wrong.

He was a defensive master during his heyday and a really solid player for the Devils.

That was a good look for him.

I cant believed he wore a Yankee jacket :shakehead
I know the relationship with the Devils at the time, but he's such a Boston guy

They talked him into putting the jacket on just for the picture. Clemens got his 300th win that night.

When I think PK I think Pandolfo for sure. I was telling my son about him retiring tonight and how while a player can't always contribute offensively they sure as heck can do other things to help a hockey club win and Jay did all the little things right. Definitely thankful he was a New Jersey Devils player.

I still remember in 07-08, he was on fire and having a career year until he took a bad fall into the boards and missed several months. He was truly never the same after that, which is such a shame because he seemed to be putting it together offensively.
