Seems like Zucker could be on his way out of Minnesota. Apparently he was basically dealt to Calgary at the deadline then something fell through.

What would it take to get him to New Jersey Devils. Would be a good winger alongside Hughes on the 2nd line.

Would a Boston's 2019 2nd round pick + B level prospect (such as Fabian Zetterlund) be enough?

I wouldn’t do it for Boston’s. I’d think about it for your own.

I hope not.

He had a down year but he's a consistent 20+ goal guy on a fair contract. I agree that he's likely to be traded, but even with him on the team we've got big question marks around goal scoring next year. Trading him for a 2nd and a B prospect makes even less sense than the Rask trade did.

A young right-shot forward would be an ideal target, in my mind. Christian Fischer in Arizona is the name that's stuck in my mind recently, but there are probably others out there. I don't think New Jersey really has anyone like that, and they have no picks between the 1st (too high) and the 2nd (too low) to be appealing. McLeod's the closest, but he seems like he's struggling to crack the league.

Hmmm. Probably the difference of about 25 slots.
What about Nashville's 2nd? Will most likely be around 55-60th overall.
NJD will have the 34th overall selection.

The rumor around the TDL was Calgary’s 1st. I’m not a fan of moving too far outside of that range. I’m in the camp of not really wanting to be rid of him, but others definitely are. They’d probably do it for any of the 2nds. I’d hold out for better.

I thought the rumor was Frolik + a small add? and Frolik declined the trade because of his NTC.

If you're dealing with me it'd be at least a 2nd. Dealing with Fenton? I have no idea.

Lol, it must stink to not have trust in the teams GM. I am very content with Ray Shero at the helm of the Devils. Only trade that was a head scratcher at the time and still is a head scratcher was giving up a 2nd round pick for Mirco Mueller, and having to use a protection spot for Mueller in the expansion draft, therefore exposing Jon Merrill. Merrill was and still is better than Mueller.

I'm not necessarily against trading him, but at this point I really question the motivation. If there's a good return to be had, sure. But if we walk away from this with something like two 2nds I'll be left scratching my head. Again.

That's nice.

meh either way. Sure you’d rather have the second round pick but how many young defenders of any potential and cost controlled ordinarily change teams?

Why the hell would we trade him for a 2nd? How does that make us a better team? The rumor at the deadline was Frolik and a 1st. I’m ok with packaging Zucker with our first to move up if there’s a pick we really like but Zucker for a 2nd? Crazy talk.

Plenty of teams would beat the offer the Devils would put together.

New Jersey should be focused on acquiring more picks and prospects.

Even with Hughes they have a lot of work to do in rebuilding this club and should be sellers.

Pass from the Devils.

If we're shopping for forwards I'd rather go after a guy like Ferland in free agency then spend assets acquiring another smaller, speedier forward. Use our extra picks to address the defense even if we have to overpay.

Fair take. I'm just high on Zucker. And 4 years at 5.5 million sounds fantastic.

Plus Wild seem to be doing the swap players as hockey trades rather than liquidate assets.

Which means they'd likely be looking at Palmieri, Zacha, or Bratt in return. With their main target depending on what their priority is -- speed, scoring, cap space, playmaker, two-way player, etc.

I’d really prefer not to trade Zucker for a package of lesser Assets. To me, a good trade for Zucker, value wise, would be McLeod + NSH 2nd, or NJD 2nd + sweetener or a Vatanen (only if we were trading Spurgeon).

If McLeod was any good he would be on the Devils by now. He has low trade value.
