He's going to be traded to Pittsburgh in 2017 and he will then magically click with Crosby, getting a 100-point season and a SC, then he ends his career as a proud Penguin. I said it first.

I honestly believe next year will be his last in the NHL. But I expect him to play a couple seasons in the Czezh league after that for Kladno to finish off his professional hockey career. So if that happens he'll be what? Around 46 years old or so, when he finally hangs it up for good. Just my gut feeling.

Any chance Jagr retires after this season? He wasn't even playing to the level where he could be happy with an all-star invite. It would be cool to see him break 1800 points but I wouldn't be surprised to see him just retire.

Not a chance. He said he wants to play in the NHL next year a few days ago. He also said he would accept lesser role.

That's great. Him getting 1800 points and ending his career with the Penguins would be the best way to retire. And I'm not sure he can hit 1800 points this year.

Well, Jagr's point totals dropped 123-96-71 before his KHL departure. Who knows if he would still feel he's ready to go if his numbers continued to fall like that.

He hurt his shoulder pretty bad in the 2006 playoffs and he never really regained the velocity on his shot until the last month of the 2006-07 season, he got surgery in the offseason on that shoulder (his shooting arm). He lost his centerman Nylander with whom he had amazing chemistry and didn't have a full time centerman in 2007-08 and still put up 71 Pts on a team that struggled to score any goals. BTW, he got 15 Pts in 10 playoffs that year so he clearly could still play at a high level.

He also started the 2008 KHL season with something like 20 goals in his first 20 games before his teammate Charapanov died on the ice in front of him and neither he or his team recovered from that.

I think on the right team, Jagr can still be a 65 + Pts player. He had 67 Pts last season on a team that was 27th in goals for and was + 16 on a team that was - in goals differential and the second best Devils player was + 3. He also had 50 evensrength points last season (12th best in the league). I think he could still play at a very high level and I expect him to be better next season than this year.

Jagr always speaks his mind on how he feels at that given time. Right now the Devils are awful and he's been getting less minutes (he got less than 13 last night) so he's upset and disappointed in his game. Early this year he had a hattrick. This is a season in which he dealt with the flu (twice), the mumps, a hit to the head, different linemates every game and still leads the Devils in scoring.

I get this feeling that if he goes to Montreal (Plekanec) or Pittsburgh, he could be playing at the level he was playing at last year for the stretch run. He's been playing the most uninspired hockey he's played at since coming back from the KHL, especially the past 2 weeks (when he started getting diminished minutes). He just needs a change of scenery. He'll be back to the 2013-14 level Jagr very soon.

What a player. I actually love how he goes to the highest bidder every time. There's some sort of fairness in that. At least the man is consistent. You want me? Pay me the most and I'm yours, no matter who you are.

How did you make this conclusion?

BTW, I think 95% of NHL players, actually 100% of players usually go to the highest bidder.

Jagr said he would accept going into training camp on tryout if it meant being in the NHL next year. When you get traded (like he did to Boston), it has nothing to do with wanting to go to the highest bidder, both teams' GM's make that decision.

BTW, you can actually read up on it, but the Flyers in 2012 didn't even offer Jagr the most money, there were about 4 other teams that offered more money, Jagr just wanted to play a bigger role. Jagr cares more about the role he plays than the money. Jagr not wanting to take 1 million from the team he played for, for 11 seasons and a 3rd-4th line role from the Penguins was his right. The media has a way of turning things though, let's make this about "Jagr wanting more money and choosing their bitter rivals"....

Lidstrom made 7 million in his last season, Selanne made 6 million, yet somehow Jagr is the only one demanding more money?:shakehead

I make a 2 sentence post praising the guy and you respond with like 3 paragraphs defending his honor for a perceived slight. Hey I have favorite players too but.... yeesh
