It seemed like every year in the last few under Jarmo, there was some story about a player being pissed off and leaving Columbus under a cloud. And then there was the horrendous Babcock hire. But at the same time it can’t be much worse in Buffalo….

People love to talk about the Babcock hiring, which was obviously a huge mistake and rightfully got him fired. But he did a lot of good things in Columbus. Drafted well, made some pretty savvy trades, actually got the team to be competitive in the playoffs for the first time in their existance...

People look at Columbus now as this young, upcoming team. Wadell has done f*** all, except hired Dean Evason. All the foundation there was built by Kekäläinen.

No he wasn't. Sure it went bad in the end, but a lot goes into that. Starting with star players leaving for more attractive destinations.

The team that made the playoffs multiple years in a row and gave high-end teams a run for their money in was his handiwork. Many of their current exciting young players were picks during his time.

If anything I think it's a good time to hire him especially in this type of role. He knows hockey and just like players, GM's gain experience through adversity.

The shit he took over the Babcock hire really pisses me off. The guy had baggage (which in fact IS THE ONLY REASON HE WOULD EVEN ANSWER A PHONE CALL FROM A NON GLAMOR FRANCHISE) but had a Hall Of Fame resume. They took a risk, it blew up quick and in reality it did no real damage to the organization.
