NYR fan here; what took so long with this? John Davidson should be next out the door.
John Davidson should have been gone a long time ago.NYR fan here; what took so long with this? John Davidson should be next out the door.
You're still aiming for the stars, we need to focus on becoming a yearly playoff contender. Once we start consistently competing for a spot that's when you start setting your sights on the finals and a cup.I’d settle for a competitive conference finals series.
Has that happened yet?

Head coach for the Islanders now. Don’t think he’s leaving that postI'm gonna throw a name out that probably doesn't have a chance in hell but....
What about Patrick Roy? We talked about him for coach but he wanted to have a role as GM as well...
Just trying to think of some outside names that have some experience in more than just coaching that aren't rehires from previous failures.Head coach for the Islanders now. Don’t think he’s leaving that post
It appears to be JD has had a bad back and hasn’t been able to do his job . That’s how pathetically ran this franchise is .. Jd needs to go, and is part of the problem . He sounded tone deaf the whole PC .NYR fan here; what took so long with this? John Davidson should be next out the door.
And the guy who is in charge (JD) hired Jarmo, and wasn’t able to build a consistent playoff team when he was here ten years ago, or today. You're still aiming for the stars, we need to focus on becoming a yearly playoff contender. Baby steps.
Except for the part where he did exactly that for half a decade. You're all over the place, hon. Might want to step back and take a deep breath, go touch some grass, get over the frustration that you only got one third of what you wanted. The boards will still be here when you get back. And the guy who is in charge (JD) hired Jarmo, and wasn’t able to build a consistent playoff team
You mean, the thing that hasn’t happened in four years and amounted to one playoff series win? LOL!!Except for the part where he did exactly that for half a decade. You're all over the place, hon. At no point did I claim it was recent. Just that it happened. (And go ask Toronto if there was only one win.)You mean, the thing that hasn’t happened in four years
Cool. Sounds like half a league of other teams with spots open on the bandwagon for you. Au revoir! You mean, the thing that hasn’t happened in four years and amounted to one playoff series win? LOL!!
Half the league makes the playoffs.
The thing that you're asking for is so unbelievably hard that even a Hockey mecca that is Toronto, with all of the media and money behind it has won only a handful of games outside the first round since something like the 60s. It's not a Columbus or JD/Jarmo/ownership thing. It's a NHL thing. And the guy who is in charge (JD) hired Jarmo, and wasn’t able to build a consistent playoff team when he was here ten years ago, or today.
Step 1: get rid of the guy who can’t even perform baby steps.
JD signed off on the hiring of Larsen AND Babcock. LOL!!!
Would be interesting to know how ST renewals/sponsorship renewals are/were going. A significant downturn would be the ultimate fan rally. And without a fan rally. Weird.
I'm honestly not inclined to believe that that had an impact, altho if data shows up demonstrating otherwise then that's on me. Frankly I think this is still from the Babcock debacle, but just with the idea of giving Jarmo one last brief chance to save his neck by seeing if this season worked out. It very much hasn't, so, "sorry, you had your last chance, we did fair by you, bye bye now."Would be interesting to know how ST renewals/sponsorship renewals are/were going. A significant downturn would be the ultimate fan rally.

Edit: before last season, this was the last time Toronto made it out of the first round..

I predict that this statement will not age well at all. He'll never be an NHL GM again.
Winning multiple playoff series and getting to the conference finals are not the same thing. At least 10 of the teams in the CBJ conference have won multiple playoff series since Jarmo/JD started running things.
Sure it's hard to win, but not as hard as it is for the CBJ for the vast majority of teams.
Jarmo survived years beyond what he should have. He'll never be an NHL GM again.
All you need to do is look annoyed. I’ve tried this at work and 50% of the time it has worked 80% of the time.I will do my best to provide quotes from social media from todays press conference, but I am also at work and have to pretend to be doing that too.
Bos, NYR, FLA, CAR, TAM, WASH, PIT, MONT and OTT have all been to the CF at least once since the failed regime of Jarmo and JD.Winning multiple playoff series and getting to the conference finals are not the same thing.
Maybe you look at their picks and players whom had before. We only drafted Dubois, Johnson and now Fantilli in TOP 5, also draft in which we get Johnson wasn't strong. Werenski and Jiříček in TOP 10. Again 2022 draft wasn't strong.Bos, NYR, FLA, CAR, TAM, WASH, PIT, MONT and OTT have all been to the CF at least once since the failed regime of Jarmo and JD.
Hardly a herculean task to get there.
Yes it is. Everyone outside of the dynasties that Tampa, Washington, Pitt and Boston created all of those other teams made it once. The goal isn't to just get close, it's become a yearly threat. None of those teams had to tear down and restart right in the middle of their peak. Ottawa and Montreal are now rebuilding. Washington and Pitt are currently in the last year or two of their windows.Bos, NYR, FLA, CAR, TAM, WASH, PIT, MONT and OTT have all been to the CF at least once since the failed regime of Jarmo and JD.
