"I was afraid": Jared McCann opens up about stressful Canucks experience

Vancouver, Florida, Pittsburgh all gave up on Jared. In now going into his 10th NHL season, he's finally broken out with 40 goals, 70 points last year. Is he a late bloomer? A legit 40 goal scorer now?

That sure is one way to frame a headline so people click on a story of a typical rookie year.
Ehhhh Benning and Co had some half baked development plan that involved one of Virtanen or McCann sitting and watching while the other played. They don’t even play the same position, so it’s just clear that the team forced them both onto the team too fast to shake heat for the beginning of many horrific decisions. Canucks 100% deserve heat for this and I say it as a Canucks fan. However McCann wasn’t the most mature at the time either with the “it is what it is” remarks but that’s why he should have been sent back after the 9 games.

This doesn’t even touch on the coaching brilliance of Willie Desjardins but I don’t wanna bring down the mood.

Did he forget how to put the puck in the net in the playoffs?

You’re a flames fan right.

I wonder what happened during the summer of 2022 that altered the course of that franchise

It's an interesting article, mostly as far as the stress McCann endured. It's got to be tough for young players, sometimes.

It's actually part of what led to the Kings foolishly trading away Cernak so early in his career. They didn't know how to handle it when Cernak opened up about being afraid on the ice. They ended up doing irreparable damage to the relationship.

And that's how the Lightning had a top-4 defenseman "thrown in" on a deal for Ben Bishop.

he’s just doing his job, dude.

His job is to sell threads. Get people talking and engaged.

It’s good for business and it works the same in pretty much any field.

Get over it

Oh f***ing come on. He links dubious sources, never responds to anyone. Often will post contradictions within minutes of posts.

It would be cool if he upped his standards. Use good sources. Not some shitty website that looks like it’s going to give my phone STD.

If you read his post history, I'm not certain that poster truly is a Flames fan. A lot of the posts don't have much good to say about the Flames.

No doubt we gave up on him too early. And for a terrible player in Gubranson. Benning sucks, especially his professional scouting, especially defenseman.

Doesn’t mean he didn’t act like an entitled prick. Sure it’s because he was young, stupid, and introverted. That’s an explanation not an excuse. When drafted the guy responded to the q how does it feel to be drafted by the Canucks with ‘it is what it is’. Also, 19 year olds drafted from the OHL don’t go to the AHL. It was NHL or OHL for him.
