4 games for that hit is horrible. So much inconsistency from DOPS.

But I think it's his 3rd suspension.
I agree if it's a first time offender then a game, but for a repeat offender it's more.

This may hurt the tank if we're forced to start playing real hockey players instead of Boll and Clarkson :)

Not really going to miss Boll in the lineup but this is ridiculous. I think back to the head shot on Foligno that got nothing and I'm just puzzled.

I barely buy that it was a 5, let alone a 5, 10 and suspension.

Shocked he is not going to appeal

DOPS is a joke!

edit: Not only is the DOPS a joke, but the players union must be also. No head shot=4 games, PK took head shot to C.G. (Philly) and got Nothing.

If they called this consistently I would be happy. It's an unneeded hit. I'd like to get this type of hit out of the game. Sadly we'll see 30 or 40 more before another suspension is handed down.

Here's Larry Brooks' take:

Finally, thinking aloud with the folks on Sixth Avenue:

So let’s pick a team out of the playoffs and make an example of one of their players for a hit we actually can’t condone but have pretty much tolerated all season long:

Aha! We have one!

Jared Boll of the Blue Jackets, come on down.

It will be four games for your late, predatory hit (but not to the head) of the Flyers Pierre-Edouard Bellemare on Tuesday.

Example. Made.

He also has an interesting take on tanking and when draft positions should be frozen.
