I'll assume that comment was directed at me. Of course I've given up on the season. We have no chance of making it into the playoffs.

Having said that, I watched about a period of the game and then switched over to Walking Dead on Netflix. I'm watching around a period or two per game now.

I didn't find this to be a dirty hit, the NHL isn't consistent at all, they are trying to take all physical play out of the game
Rule states you can't hit anyone in the head. He did. I said it at the game he would sit a game or two. I think three is too much, but that's what the rule says. It's nothing about taking physicality out of the game.

But yeah, the consistency of suspensions in the NHL is so bad. Especially after the Toffoli ********.

First you've seen the hit? Did you give up on the season?

No, not yet. He hasn't put his tickets available on HFBoards yet. :sarcasm: ;)

I'm quite surprised at the people here who are saying this didn't deserve 3 games. Boll took a run at the guy and hit him straight in the head. How you can say this didn't justify a suspension is beyond my comprehension.

I'm no Boll apologist but...

1. No injury
2. No penalty on the play
3. Was not a blatant head shot. One angle looks bad but the reverse angle shows the should actually took most of the contact even though he technically did make head contact initially.
4. In the eyes of the NHL, he is not a repeat offender and is not considered a dirty player.

Granted the head was the initial point of contact, albeit inadvertently, but 3 games seems excessive due to all of the points listed above. 1 game, maybe 2? Ok, just because head contact was made.

I tried to sell one game because I don't get off until 7, but I didn't sell any! Give it a rest, ha

1) Okay? Because you there was no injury there should be no punishment? That is stupid.
2) Refs miss calls all the time.
3) It was very much so a blatant head shot. I believe the video speaks for itself. I'm sure if you watch a video of a guy outside of the arena shooting video of 315 you wouldn't see Boll make contact with the head either.
4) What? The suspension video itself says that Boll has been suspended once and fined twice for illegal hits. I mean....that sure does seem like this would be a repeat...

Bet you wouldn't have had **** to do if they were in the playoff hunt

You know **** about my life. I love this team. But some things come first. Even in the middle of a playoff hunt. Call me untr00. But there are certain things I will willingly miss a game for.

really? going after ppl b/c they didn't see a game that's meaningless to the season? That's pretty low...

I saw the replays (since I was in a suite on the other side of the rink and couldn't see it live) the hit warranted suspension...there can be ZERO debate about it...shoulder to head, Maroon didn't suddenly dip his head, it was in the same spot the whole play...Boll could have held up...and didn't...now three games???? that's debatable...

End of the day, we're not gonna miss him...there are others who will step up if needed on this team...hopefully the mgmt has realized he's become a liability and just waives him...the HERO stats show he's less than a 4th line player...if he were anymore, than Mark Letestu would have gotten more out of him...

1. The NHL has clearly stated in the past that injury plays into the suspension ruling.
2. They do but I don't recall anyone making a big super huge deal about it on the ice at that moment. Vigilante justice was played out several minutes later when Stoner challenged him but nobody was worked up enough and felt the need to try and fight him at that exact moment as I recall.
3. Your point isn't making sense. Just because initial contact came to the head doesn't mean he did it on purpose with malicious intent.
4. NHL policy is supposed to consider someone not a repeat offender if they are clean within the last 18 months. Both of Boll's previous incidents were 3 years ago. While they can bring "past history" into the equation, he has effectively been a clean player in recent seasons considering his role.

I'm not saying he shouldn't have gotten a game out of it because of the contact. I'm just stating that 3 seems excessive to me based on the circumstances.

Sorry, that doesn't measure the intangibles he brings to this team.

you're welcome...

exactly what intangibles? he's a good lockerroom guy? he can out drink Wiz at the bar? he can take a punch and not get a concussion?

seriously...we have enough "good lockerroom guys"

The glass shakes in terror when he steps on the ice. Plus the eyebrows. The eyebrows man.

The day that he is finally gone will be such a joyous day. No more of this silly debate about the value of a guy who actually scores less that Wennberg on a consistent basis.

1) This is the kind of hit that the NHL is trying to discourage.
2) NHL Department of Player Safety has the opportunity to reinforce that message WHILE NOT IMPACTING A PLAYOFF RACE.
3) Department of Player Safety takes advantage of that opportunity

Is 3 games excessive? Maybe. But certainly not surprising given the above.

I thought the same thing when Shelley left, then we got Boll. So just because Boll will eventually leave don't assume that the CBJ won't find another...

Sorry, that doesn't measure the intangibles he brings to this team.

It's a useless argument with most of these anti-Boll people, all they want to do is throw offensive stats out there and there is much more to a well balanced team than offensive statistics but those that don't understand the role of a fighter, will never get it, so save your breath, they were the same ones that hated Shelley. The players, coaches and management are the only ones opinions that matter and the players love him and appreciate what he brings to the team, so the non-fighting people can go watch figure skating for all I care.

I always thought the series went Oliwa who had less talent than Shelley who had less talent than Boll who has less talent than Anderson...the progression to less dumb fighting but still able to throw when necessary...

Anderson has the talent to play higher in the lineup than the 4th line, and he hasn't had an NHL fight so nobody knows what he can do, that's ridiculous to replace a respected fighter with someone that could be a solid 3rd line guy and nobody knows if he can even fight at the NHL level.
