The practical value of a Coyotes ticket is based primarily on the day of the week and the opponent. The latter is a more common factor than the former.
To determine the overall demand for a game, I generally just check seatgeek.com or stubhub.com to look at general asking prices of resale tickets. 70% of the time or so, resale prices are lower than box office prices. The other 30% of the time, box office prices are cheaper than resale prices, if you're lucky enough to get seats from the box office before the game sells out.
Being a STH, I pay far below the face value of the single game price in my section, so I'm biased. If I can't make a game, I can actually fairly often re-sell my ticket for a price that's higher than my personal per-game price as a season ticket holder, but still cheaper than the box office single game price, so everyone wins.
... except the profitability of the franchise, perhaps.
