Claude Julien said Daniel Paille wont be making trip to Toronto and is still being evaluated for an injury caused by high stick #BruinsTalk

Bourque and Tardif will both have to be in.

Chiarelli and Neely are not brain-dead...they realize that Thornton will not play forever.

Worse case: Bruins wait too long (e.g., years) and get a Goon who can't contribute like Thornton did.

Best Case: Bruins find a true heavyweight who can actually contribute when not fighting and he comes in and spells Thornton as needed during the transition to Thornton's retirement, which hopefully is at least a year or two away. Besides being a pugilist, Thornton brings grit, determination, spirit and is a team-first player.

Oh man that sucks for Danny, he had gotten off to such a great start.

Welcome to Boston & good luck Jamie Tardif!

So Paille won't be playing? Team is going to miss him.

So basically the Sabres game definitely took Thornton and Paille out of at least a game, Bergeron is injured in some way even if he is travelling and playing be interesting to see how he does on the draw if he event takes them.

Here's hoping Tardif can produce. I don't have much hope that Bourque is going to do much-not sure the game played last night was the best example to see from the pressbox.

I love seeing a kid get rewarded for persistence. Moves like this is why Boston has a reputation as a good landing spot for AHL veterans. Claude and Chia are not afraid to reward guys that are willing to go to Providence and earn a spot. Agents notice this stuff.

As far as the role that Thornton plays. I think between Camara and McDermid they'll have a suitable replacement. Claude relies too much on his 4th line to go the route of a useless goon. I think they'll always have a light heavyweight like Thornton, and then round out the roster with other guys that can handle themselves when called upon (Campbell, McQuaid, Chara, Lucic, Horton, Ference, Boychuk, etc.). Team toughness is far more intimidating and effective than relying on one or two guys to handle the dirty work.

2007-2009 drafts rearing their ugly head during this wave of injuries..

Yup. It's easy to hit on a Seguin or Hamilton, but weak drafting really comes back to bite you in the rear in a situation like this. It also bites you when you can't restock your line up with cheap, legit NHL talent when losing guys to free agency.

Offer Soderberg 2-4 million for this year to come over now, less if he comes when his season is over - hey, worth a shot

We need some more skilled size in the lineup IMO, at worst he's a big two way forward that would be a better fit on the third line than what we currently see and add size to the middle of our offense

I would hope the difference between Boston and Toronto isn't Shawn Thornton and Danny Paile.

How about if the difference is Boston's 3 lines v Toronto's 4 lines?

Three out of twelve forwards are AHL players, so I guess you could say 3 NHL lines and 1 AHL line vs 4 NHL lines.

I have to say, I am not happy with the fact Shawn Thornton is going to be out for a while. However, I am positively thrilled that Jamie Tardif is finally getting called up and will get a chance. We saw him play down in Providence during the lockout, and part of me always wondered what went into the decision making as to why Chris Bourque was called up when the lockout ended and Tardif wasn't. Granted, Bourque had the most points of an P-Bruin, but he had more assists than he did goals. Tardif right behind him in points, but had more goals than assists, the opposite of Bourque, and more goals than Bourque did (the night we saw him play back in December he had a hat trick). It will be interesting to see how he does.

I'd say you're being generous in terming TO's lines all NHL caliber.

I believe Soderberg can't come over right now? There's a swedish poster that posts in his thread often with info, something with the team he's with. I'd love to see Soderberg come over, but as always, an extreme long shot

Glad to see Tardif get a shot. Seen him in a few games this year in Prov. and he's looked pretty good. Great scoring touch

Great to see Tardif getting a shot in Boston.

Too many fans underrate the AHL. It's a very good league and exists for the purpose of developing NHL prospects and providing replacement players when needed.

Tardif should have been playing instead of Lame Lane Thursday since we basically asked to get bullied by Buffalo dressing McDermid in a game and thus making a bum like Scott more likely to impact the game (we asked for it stooping down to their level dressing another fighter.)

I think it will be good for Greg Campbell to play with 2 new guys. We can see what we actually have in him since he hasn't played much hockey w/out Shawn and Danny.

I want Spooner in the AHL for now but if anyone in the top 6 goes down I think he needs to get that chance.

Seguin should be benched for poor play, I might give Tardif a few shifts in Tylers spot and let Seguin skate with Campbell a little.

1 regulation loss and 2 4th line injuries and suddenly the team is mortally flawed.

Yep...season is now a failure too. No shot at the 47-0-1 record. We also need to re-tool the entire roster because of John Scott and Frazer McLaren.

Antoine Roussel gets called up (scores a goal too :handclap:), Hamill gets traded and with the Tardif call up should tell us that the NHL is for everyone. :)

:handclap:
