This is one of the very, very few bad hits where you can legitimately argue that the guy who got hit created the problem. Why the hell is he hitting the breaks so hard at the goal line?

Played defense my entire life and never did anything like that. Just a dumb move by Carlo. He tried to avoid getting railed and put himself in an even worse position. See who is coming, play the puck, take the hit. That's your job.

Lazlo I normally nod my head when I read your posts but here ... he wasnt trying to play the puck and you are allowed to hit guys in the back.

In the replay you can see he's pulled his stick back and is backhanding the puck when Benn rails him from behind.

The league allows hitting from behind in some circumstances but by the rulebooke you're not allowed to hit guys square in the numbers throwing them headfirst into the boards. That's checking from behind which is an automatic major.

I do think the league has a stupid enforcement of the rule though where they allow it until a player hits a guy too hard from behind or something flukey happens and there's an injury, then it's a major and suspension. Either allow it or don't.

Looks like he paused about 5 feet from boards and tried to do a reverse hit, that failed. Boarding penalty is fine, and move on.

If he wanted to play the puck, he would have kept skating, to actually get to the puck.

--Laws of physics when skating on ice took place.
--Zadorov saw his teammate down and did what he needed to do.
--Benn manned up and fought even though he wasn't at fault.
--Refs did their job and upon video review made the correct call.
--No further incidents in the game and Carlo is ok.
--Since it was Benn some fans get mad and lose rational thought processes.

No. This is where he gets hit

And unless his stick is 8 feet long, he stopped trying to set a pick to let his defense partner get the puck. So he got railed.
