“Centremen with his tools aren’t easy to find, so we took the risk of trading for him knowing what the reward might be,” San Jose general manager Doug Wilson told the newspaper.

Wilson added that Sheppard’s knee injury is “not an issue” and that his work ethic to get back on the ice “says a lot about his character.”
