Value of: James Hagens to the Islanders

As a Seattle fan if we had the pick to draft Hagens in the top 5 I wouldn't do that as a SEA fan.

3 late 1sts and two of them in a relatively weak draft...I don't particularly think Ritchie is much of a game changer either so I wouldn't do this.

Most teams I don't think would do this because elite talent is always better than having 5 decent guys in the pipeline. Seattle especially is seeing this right now. Hagens may not be as strong as other top 5 picks (though IMO he is underrated) but I think he's a lot better than like 20, 28, 20, Ritchie.
Aren't the NYI currently sitting at 11th?
And I didn't see anything about the 2026 1st being protected. Although I'm sure there would be.

It's quite possible Hagens falls to #4 which is currently where Boston is picking. BU boy, they'll want their spiritual successor to Bergeron. The Islanders are better off going for Gavin.

Yessssss rebuild tomorrow. Go for Hagens and McKenna.

Then the Vancouver Canucks can trade for the Islander's Centers. Which ones you ask? Allllll of them.

Horvat
Pageau
Cizikas

We'll take them all thanks.

And it shouldn’t be assumed that the Isles are going to be picking in the middle of the round next year, which makes this trade potentially catastrophic for them. It’s a no from both sides probably, unless you’re an Isles fan obsessed with having Long Island guys play for the team. Based on the prior obsession with “bring Pinto home” there seems to be quite a few of them.

You're right. One shouldn't assume the Islanders will be picking in the middle of the round in 2026. I'm thinking that the 2026 pick is the most value piece of the offer. I'm assuming it will be a top ten pick
