You can put me in the camp that says Vrana is the more dynamic player than Larkin. I think he has a lot more upside also but right now, their pay should actually be right about the same. Here are some stats I pulled up that tell the story of Vrana being the "better" offensive weapon given the same amount of games and ice time. That being said, Larkin is a more "complete" player but the offensive weapons in the NHL get paid more than the worker bee's and all around guys.

Points per game:
Larkin- .66 for his career and went down considerably the last two years
Vrana- .55 and has gone up the last three years (at 1.0 since trade to Detroit)

P0ints per minutes played:
Larkin- .06 (19:11 minutes per game average)
Vrana- .08 (13:41 minutes per game average)

Vrana thrived, even with less talented players, the more minutes he was given. This kid is really valuable for a team that just can't seem to score. I'd say give him the $6M per year (just .1 million less than the average of Larkin's contract).
