I wonder if they play Montembeault the back-to-back this weekend and give Dobes the Chicago game?

Playing him against one of TB or Florida is definitely throwing him to the Wolves type scenario.

Our next 3 games: Florida, TB, Vegas. Then Chicago (could give this one to Primeau, too) and Colorado. Chicago/Colorado is also back-to-back.

This pretty much seals it as far as Primeau time in Montreal. He's gonna be gone soon probably in the off season unless Dobes shit the bed even worse than he did

Fowler - Dobes is the most likely duo of the future. But then again i thought Fucale would take over Price at some point and i was completely wrong about that. Time will tell

Hughes is a career minor leaguer & was never signed to play NHL games.

Dobes has spent 1.5 years “developing in AHL” - he should see quite a bit of game time IMO

As for the schedule, Habs will be fine.. I’m expecting min 4-of-6 pts to close out Dec - as long as Laine isn’t injured longterm which doesn’t appear to be the case
They just lost to bloody Columbus. They aren’t getting 4-6 points against the teams they’re facing on this trip. And since when are goalies ready after a year and a bit? Mark my words, this will do nothing. Everyone thinks guys “deserve” a look. Roy, Mailloux, now Dobes.

Wonder what the plan will be as Laval just has the 2 games at home vs the Crunch and then the Nucks for 2 at home next weekend but after that the schedule gets rough with only 2 games against sub .500 teams between Jan 10th and Feb 17th.

Laval has a 1 pt lead over 3 teams and then there's the Sens who are 8 pts back of us but have 3 games in hand and we play them twice in the coming weeks.
This move is so stupid. Once again, Laval gets screwed and both teams may end up struggling.

You've got a way bigger chance on being right this time around. Fucale actually profiles similar to Primeau, only Fucale was smaller but had better technical skills. Both just didn't have the athleticism for the NHL game and their mental games are not good enough to compensate.

It makes no sense not to call up players who have excelled in Laval.
They have developed and need to get their feet wet at the next level sooner than later.

It isn't going to hurt anyone and will give them an idea of what they need to be work on if they have to go back.
Owen Beck keep your head up you are next.
It does when you have a solid ahl team and a rebuilding team in the nhl. We don’t have any superstars that are going to stand out or help the big team right now. These guys are better off winning in Laval this year. Instead of getting more experienced, they’re throwing another young guy into the mix. Why do you think they got Carrière instead of calling up Mailloux? They can’t keep adding kids and expect to win.

Bottom line, Mailloux simply isn't good enough. If he was, kid or otherwise , he would be playing, as Hutson has been. It's the correct assessment of Mailloux's current playing ability. Currently, he's, at best, just an ordinary AHL level defenceman.

I'm cool with a few games but I hope he isn't the solution long-term this season.

Unless he thrives of course but I think he has a better chance at thriving if he stays in the A this year
I have watched Dobes play closely this year. To call his style unconventional, is an understatement. He plays an aggressive, if not awkward, style where he challenges the shooters relying on his size to cover as much net as possible. He really overcommits on occasion. While that style may work against AHL level players, I have a feeling that NHL players will light this guy up.

Yep outside of about 5-7 games Logan Mailloux has been very ordinary and I would rate Adam Engstrom ahead of him.

Hellebuyck, Swayman, Demko, Oettinger etc..

As posted, call up at / during D+4 has become standard NHL practice - a couple of college seasons followed by 1 full year in AHL and call-up during second season or 3 NCAA + 1-AHL

He's brought it way down and has continued to do that this year in the AHL.
