"Wanna go, Prettyboy?"
Pretty risky considering he's just coming back from injury.
What's the risk?
He can't possibly be worse than Primeau. Primeau is barely out-performing EBUG's.

Or Petteri "has something similar to Rinne" Simila. It's too bad Missiaen didn't progress.
Agreed, but I really hope Dobes doesn’t end up in the same bullshit cycle as Primeau, getting shuffled back and forth between Montreal and Laval, or playing once in a blue moon. He deserves a proper shot without getting burnt. HuGo definitely needed to do something, but I was hoping for something more impactful, like a serviceable+ backup.Hughes finally making some necessary moves to stop the bleeding. Let’s go boys, let’s fkn go.
At 23 players, no need for another move.
This isn’t some 18-year old just drafted player - standard practice for NCAA G is 1-2 yrs of college hockey & callup during 2nd year of AHL… pretty standard. Hellebuyck, Swayman, Demko etc. There is definitely a need.
A young goaltender who has never played at the NHL level needs all the practice and prep he can get at the big league level and he absolutely should not be "sharing a net" in practice. That would be counterintuitive.
Why? Montembault played was back n forth the AHL/NHL in 2018/19. From florida to springfield. Same for 2019/2020.Agreed, but I really hope Dobes doesn’t end up in the same bullshit cycle as Primeau, getting shuffled back and forth between Montreal and Laval, or playing once in a blue moon. Dobes will get a few games while the Habs try and find a competent back up.I don't know why you are telling me this.
I'm saying Dobes should not be part of a 3-goalie situation in practice in advance of his NHL debut.

Dobes is here to stay & work his way to split G duties w Diekembe IMO…. this has always been part of HuGo’s calculus once they lost bidding war for Askarov in the summerI don't know why you are telling me this.

or trade or waive himIf he is going to start a game, the most likely situation is Monty and Dobes will get the work and they'll have Primeau on another sheet of ice, or after practice to work solo with the goalie coach.
???So Habs can't have 3 goalies due to roster limitations, can they? Primo should go to play in Italy... or Switzerland. He will pass waivers with flying colors

You are probably right. Dobes turns 24 in less than 6 months, was drafted in 2020 and played 2 seasons in the NCAA, 65 games in Laval. This is not a raw 21 year old, this kid might be more ready than people think. One thing for sure...he is athletic and feisty! While fans drool over Fowler many have not given Dobes the merit he deserves as a legitimate goalie prospect.Dobes is here to stay & work his way to split G duties w Diekembe IMO…. this has always been part of HuGo’s calculus once they lost bidding war for Askarov in the summer
Thats my guess. Conditioning stint incoming. They didn’t announce a corresponding move. Will they simply waive Primeau or is he eligible for a conditioning stint given how he hasn’t played in so long?
I think he's in a good position. It's clear he has an open runway to stay in the NHL if he takes this opportunity and runs with it. If he doesn't then he'll be sent down and has a small sample size to continue growing from. All depending on Dobes’ poise & play… he may stay up if he shows he belongs - afterall he’s got the management team pulling for him
My guess is he gets waived and no one picks him up. He can then play in Laval and maybe fight his way back to Montreal.Thats my guess. Conditioning stint incoming.
It’s ok it’s the habs he gets like 60 games to rehab on the jobPretty risky considering he's just coming back from injury.
