Barron out and Primeau at the door. The Habs are trimming the young ones that are not progressing. If I was Dach, I would be a tad nervous. Him succeeding is more important to the Habs, so he gets more time. However, HuGo are showing that their patience has some limits.
A rebuilding team is much better suited to churn through players than a contending team that is tight against the cap and is cautious about losing cost-controlled young players. Taking on Carrier’s chunky cap hit in exchange for a busting young player is something only a rebuilding team can really do.

It’s good HuGo are not settling for Infinite Patience like some fans insist.
Should have happened a month ago or more
Agreed. Six weeks ago they should’ve scratched Barron, Dach, and/or Newhook (and escalated the moves from then). About a month ago they should’ve swapped out Primeau.

I have hope when ambitions rise so will standards and minimum performance expectations.

I love how everyone has forgotten about poor Pezz...Primeau isn't the only guy who isn't playing that can be moved to make roster space if needed.
It sucks for the guy and I'm sure he'd much rather play, but he's getting paid close to a million dollars to practice, so he's not doing too bad all things considered. He's definitely winning at life, if nothing else.

I think he gets waived, clears and heads to Laval to try and find his game....again.

I might have to recalled Hughes based on the fact Dobes was just recently hurt and id like to see Jakub get tons of starts....at the same time excited to see him start and cool that he is being rewarded for great play in the last calendar year or so.
Hughes was acquired for Laval and Dobes was being developed for Montreal.
Gorton already suggested we might see Dobes this season and when he graduates it will be as a back-up.
I would never pass over Dobes that would be a slap in the face he's done everything the organization has asked of him it's his turn.
This is probably a short term fix for the current road trip.

All depending on Dobes’ poise & play… he may stay up if he shows he belongs - afterall he’s got the management team pulling for him

Habs play a lot of tough teams, so his first game potentially will be against one of the better teams in the league when this team struggles mightily against a competent team.

He's not ready to be a backup, so hopefully they have a trade for an actual backup and they're giving him a game as a way to show him he's been trending well.

He would not be the first player to be dominant in the AHL and not good enough for the NHL.
I think we have seen his ceiling at this point.
If he does have a future, its wont be with our organization; we have a few goalie prospects who have leapfrogged him at this point.

By playing his first ever NHL game, Jakub Dobes will already tie an all-time Habs record as the tallest goalie to ever lace em up for the Habs.

Dobes is 6'4

Tallest goalie: Alex Auld, 6'4

Dryden, Price, Primeau, Monty and Managio come next at 6'3

It takes a certain mental strength to be successful in net in Montreal, Primeau doesn't seem to have it. He could excel in other markets and I hope he does.

I like this kid
he stays up for next year and Fowler takes on the AHL (am I right Fowler will be AHL next year)?

It's too bad Missiaen didn't progress.
