Even when he was winning, there were times when he was out of position, shaky, or he guessed wrong as to which way the deke was going, etc. I think his abilities are overblown. He is very young, and everyone needs time to adjust to the NHL. He may yet be as good as his reputation.

He's big and athletic but his mechanics and fundamentals aren't great. He's been letting some real weak ones in lately like the 2nd goal last night. I'm not convinced on this guy being a longterm NHL goalie yet.

He has a little over 1 pro season...he is still pretty raw.

Regarding Dobes I have a question- Primeau is 9-0 and seems to have gotten his game back...would it be better to send Dobes back to Laval and play the heck out of him and bring Primeau back up?

His magic hasn't vanished, he's just had to deal with way worse defensive play in front of him. Good learning experience though, having to have several unimpeded cross ice one timers a game at the highest level.
Yup he wasn't able to stay square to very many shooters in that game. He'll need to figure it out. I thought he flat out blew a couple of goals from range and He was not set on 4 of those goals.

For sure but remember only 16 months ago when he started in the AHL. Dude looked like a bambi in the headlights. He got better fast and I'd expect him to keep on that trend

No, imo. Primeau is a good AHL goalie but can't cut it at the NHL level. I'd rather find out what we have in Dobes.

From what I've seen of Primeau in Laval, despite winning games, he's still letting in tons of weak goals.

Plenty of weak goals is definitely a stretch. He's got like a 2.4 GAA, and that's with 3 bad games in his last 4 where he's given up 15 goals.

Regardless, he's still far, far off being even a mediocre NHL backup.

Very impressed with him. Every time is see him it's like I see Price. Similar style and size.

With Montembeault signed and Fowler coming up soon, Hughes will have a dillema in the next year or 2. I believe a goalie will have to be traded.

Fowler is probably 2 years away.

Fowler needs AHL time...no way you rush a prized prospect like him.
