Does he play vs the figs?
Think he gets the Rags

He has a lot of natural swagger about him, which is rubbing off on the rest of the team when he's starting. Very Patrick Roy like in that aspect. Self confidence is a pretty big part of what makes a good player even better.
Swagger AND quiet confidence. Dude is oozing positivity for our squad right now.

He's coming after George Hainsworth's record.

It's so funny that there's these teams that have been lost in the woods for like 30 years trying to find goalies and we find a legitimate top 10-15 goalie in the sport on waivers and have Dobes start like this.

Yeah we can find vezina goalies in a trash can but can't get a star scorer to save our lives. Meanwhile in Toronto/Philadelphia...

🎶 You're simply Dobes! Better than all the rest! 🎶

or conversely,

🎶 My name is Dobes!!! I'm carrying the wheel! 🎶

One thing I forgot to mention last night.

First period, he was shaky. Bad rebounds. Catching glove was lagging.

Next two periods, he was lights out and in control.

Pretty impressive mental game to reset. A lot of young goalies would have melted down after they were behind on a few of those shots.

At some point, I think in the 3rd, he went swimming behind his net. I wasn't sure he would get back in time, but he did.

He's been impressive, but beside the record I agree that he's been inspiring confidence. Gives me Price-vibes with that calm. His stile if farm from Price otherwise, but the confidence....

First-world problem: Monty-Dobes-Fowler.... Can't keep them all and can't all play 1G

Agreed but on the flip side we can’t find Centers :(

He has been fantastic, looks like a seasoned veteran out there

He can definitely develop into a legit #1

please don't jinx it lol

Getting exactly what I thought we'd be getting with Jakub Dobes.
Like his play in Laval He will not wilt he's as much the battler that Monty was when he started taking the net from Allen. He's just bigger better and more athletic.
Are people starting to see the 1A-1B possibilities yet?

It's so cool to have another option should we need to ride a hot hand down the stretch.

By the way, Dobes has a mental coach. Pete Fry Hockey Mindset Training.

That explains to me why Dobes has a great mental as a goalie.

I encourage all of our Baby Habs to have a mental coach.

Is Monty sweating?

Probably less than when Primeau was there. Dobes gives him a better/more consistent backup so he can focus on his own game.

If he/Montreal think his time is done as the starter in 2.5 years, he'll easily find a job elsewhere. Then you have 26 years old Dobes with 23 years old Fowler (and possibly 22 yo Volokhin fresh in NA playing in Laval) to start 2027-2028.

With the Habs goalie pipeline, there was very little chance Montembeault spends the rest of his career in Montreal. His current contract ends just in time (30 turning 31 early in the first contract year) for a team to throw him a boatload of money like they often do with UFA starters.

Don't know if you noticed, i think it was in the third, he did a save, and then, there was a scrum in the back of his net, and he threw the puck at the Dallas players lol.

No........but there are footsteps. With any luck we can end up with a tandem like the Bruins for a couple of seasons........
Dobes seems to have Ice-water in his veins.

He did that with authority on the SO when Drouin tried to score!! LOL
