Value of: Jake Evans

Contenders who are likely buyers who have a 2025 1st round pick:

Vancouver
Ottawa
Carolina
LAK
Washington
Winnipeg

That's about it.

Not a lot of 1st round picks out there for sellers.

Montreal management has shown they are ok getting pick farther down the road, though. A 2026 or 20027 first would be a great return.

A lot of players similar to Evans have gone for 2nd rounders though, so that's what I expect. Maybe a 2026 2nd and a 2027 3d rounder or something like that.

Team's will be more reluctant to part with an unprotected 1st in 2026, which is predicted to be a much stronger draft. A second seems more reasonable. There just isn't that much high draft capital left in the buyers' stock.

Devils have been hanging on to Gritsyuk for 5 1/2 years and he's finally coming over to North America next season where he'll likely fill a role in the top 6 on an ELC, which is huge for a cap team. No way he's getting dealt for a bottom 6 pending UFA forward that's never cracked 30 points.
I understand , i mean there is like 70 pages of comments on this Guy on devil’s board . People have been tracking him for ages for what, being traded for a 3rd line rental ? No way ! Gritsiuk is not a sure bet but there is some upside there for sure

Make it a protected first another year before downgrading to a second.

Frankly, the first team to offer a first (regardless of year or protection) gets him right off the bat IMO.

Yes, the same clueless fans who got laughed at when we said we'd get a 1st for Chiarot and a 1st for Monahan. How about waiting until the deal is done before claiming victory?

If you guess that every player on your roster and in your system will return a first, it’s not hard sneak a correct prediction in there. Horloge cassée and all that.

Would rather give our first to Gary than to trade it and have to give up next year's without a choice.

I don't think anyone is expecting any of the Habs UFAs this year to return a first so not sure what you're on about. Savard, Dvorak, Armia will all likely be dealt but all will receive underwhelming returns.

Evans' potential market at the deadline could be significant and with such a dearth of available useful players a bidding war could drive his price up substantially. A first is still doubtful but if somebody gets stupid a 2026 or 2027 protected first isn't completely impossible.

These boards are wrong about player valuations nearly 100% of the time. That is not a joke. The regular posters on here are wrong every. single. time. It's amazing they have the arrogance to continue to drive content on these boards. They should never be listened to for real predictions, ever.
