Love it.
Great AAV.
Player loves it in Montreal
Respects the present culture and the past of the org.
Good on both sides for figuring it out.
Couldn't replace his value at that term and amount.
Love it and shows where this teams focus is now and moving forward.
Kudos both sides

Suzuki and Evans make 2/3rds of a very good C depth. Beck can definitely be okay as 4C.

Now the 2C we slot in will dictate the quality of this team. If you put an average one among those other 3, we will be mediocre and both Laine and Demidov will lack support in the middle. A 2C that's above-average or better really enables the forward group to play in their proper roles. I would imagine Hughes is looking to add someone who moves the needle as a 2-way top-six C who can ease Suzuki's burden while not killing plays in the Ozone

I don't know if Hughes has some dirt on Evans agent but this is a great deal. Would never have expected Evans to sign for less than 3.5m.....much less for less than 3m.

Chapeau !!

Evans could have gotten a better deal by being a free agent. This is unbelievable! Someone that gave us a small discount and didn't complain about Da Taxes!!!! Surely he knew about da taxes right? Why would he give us a discount?

These types of scenarios were impossible supposedly in a previous life not too far ago.

Hah... I had to check whether this was an older headline/title of the article or the new signing. Good signing. Good deal. Well done.

With Evans signed, pretty much means the end of Dvorak.

Suzuki
? Not Dach
Evans
Beck

I think they are looking for a LH top 6 center.

Slafkovsky Suzuki Caufield
Demidov ? Laine
Newhook Beck Dach next year?
Heineman Evans Armia are locks if JA resigns.

Anderson Gallagher?

7th round pick.
Leader on his college team
Hard work, no complaints
Noticeable improvement to his skating a few seasons ago, changed his whole dynamic
Got cheap shotted and injured multiple times, came back stronger and more physical
Keeps improving as a savvy defensive veteran

Jake the Snake, my friends

I would have been fine for up to 3.5, I think he would get 4 in open market. Happy he’s with us though! Great signing at that AAV.

If the best we could get is a 2nd then I'm super happy

Great AAV and he has earned it. Getting futures is always nice but this team has earned the chance to stay together and try and keep the momentum going for next year.

There is dead weight that needs to be cut, but Jake never takes a game off. We couldn't plan on replacing all 2C-3C-4C next year

What a f***ing steal. I would have given him as many years as he wanted at this price.

Guy clearly loves playing for Montreal. No doubt in my mind he's getting $3.5M on the open market.

f*** YEAH!

I'm happy because I wanted to keep him.....The contract is the cherry on the sundae. Good for the player as he loves it here and got a good raise with 4 years of security and good for the team as they absolutely need to hold onto their solid veterans and especially centres.

Love the culture that is being built on this team. The salary structure is great and players want to be here for the most part.

Just get Armia signed at 2.5m for 3 years and i'll be happy. Him and Evans are great together.

No but even if we only get a 2nd in 2027... You still can resign him July 1st, and he can still keep his condo or whatever. The reasoning behind this signature looks immature. I spent the majority of my college years moving everywhere for internships, I don't get the "I don't want to leave part". It's really brushing me the wrong way like we're dealing with big baby Crosby eh.
I can't tell if you're being serious... If you are, you're irritated a player signs a team friendly contract to stay on our team? For you to be satisfied, he should have accepted to miss out on this "making the playoffs" run, and perhaps even the playoffs, after 3 years spent as one of the worst teams in the league, to then come back and sign a team friendly contract in July? All so we can get a 2nd in 2027??
Wow... We were headed into next year with one NHL center that isn't a rookie. Now we have two.
Also, he's not an intern, he's a 28 year old UFA in the NHL. A very good bottom 6 center at that.
Really man, calling HIM a baby with that argument is bananas...
