What happens with Armia? Signed or not signed? Traded?
Not signed imo. Traded or not will depend on the offers. He's been so so for quite some games now. He has 6 points in his last 25 games -3 with a TOI of almost 15 minutes and he's missing lot of offensive plays. KH looks like a very rational man who wont be impressed by a good sequence and forget everythying that happened before. We have many horses to replace Armia. Xhekaj is progression much faster than expected. Davidson will be 23 and on his 3rd AHL season next year we'll probably want to take a serious look at him eventually. There's Kapanen too. Unless it's 1 year i don't see KH signing Armia.

Armia is an underappreciated player by too many in the Habs fanbase. When he's playing well he's very effective at what he does and he's been doing it quite well since his wakeup call last season after getting waived and sent to the AHL for a couple of stints, which he never once publicly complained about.

This is a thread about Evans though so apologies for going a bit off topic.
Until they have someone graduating to take on the role, or if someone better comes along , I completely agree. Armia is fantastic along the boards and steals pucks like crazy. He makes a big difference without getting the accolades. Resign him.

I wouldn't give Armia anything more than 2 years. He's older than Evans.

I'm really iffy on resigning him. I feel Tuch or Florian Xhekaj could be ready by mid next season. Plus, Kapanen needs a spot, which means one of Beck or Kapanen will play wing next year.
I can actually see one of Beck or Kapanen becoming part of package for a higher end center.
I have no doubt we've moved on from Dach and that both he and Newhook are viewed as wingers.

Evans really wanted to be a Hab. He could have gotten a lot more. Feels nice to have players that want to be with us.

"Jake, if you take this deal, I wont trade you. If you decide not to, however, I will monetize you and your teammates will hate you, because you chose greed over making the playoffs. The ball is in your court, Jake."

*Habs lose 7-0 vs Oilers, Still trades him at the TDL*

No idea why Armia should go. Him and evens are among the best combo on the pk in the league. If you could get him for the same contract or less I’d be fine with that
Habs already have 8 wingers for next season, and it doesn't include guys like Roy, Beck/Kapanen, Davidson, Farrell, etc. Who could possibly make the team out of camp if there is a spot available

Amazing deal. If the Habs are serious about competing next season, they needed Evans. Can't believe the reasonable cap hit.
They had kind of no choice. I think we'll have like 20 millions next season to find a top 4 RHD, a 2nd line center and fill the lineup that will be missing 2-3 more players and a goalie. We simply could not really afford to give Jake 4 millions.

People forget Slaf and Guhle are in for a big raise next season. Then it's Lane Hutson the following year. There's still two years remaining on Anderson and Gallagher we simply can't afford in our situation to throw money/term at depth player while we need to fill the top 4 and top 6.

It depends on Armia's willingness to take a discount like Evans. What we know now is if he stays, it will be to a team friendly contract and my guess is 2-3 years at something between 2 and 2,5M$.

If he wants to test the market, I'm sure we can get a late 2nd of we retain 50%.
With his wife pregnant and due this Spring, I doubt he is very keen on leaving her behind for a playoff stint in another city, and then not knowing where he will be after July...

Good deal i really like Evans .Now get rid of the rest of the UFA's.Evans is the only one worth keeping.Dvorak,Savard,Armia can all leave.
