I wouldn't mind having Armia back on a team friendly deal either. Like Evans he's said he really loves playing for the Habs and would also like to stay so we'll see where that goes, if anywhere.
Judging by this contract, I'm fairly confident if Armia comes back, it would be on a team friendly deal too which I'd be good with.

Wow , feels so nice to have an actual GM capable of winning negotiations like these. I wouldn't have guessed the cap hit would be this low considering we have cap increases coming in a big way in the upcoming seasons. Having a solid bottom 6 is such a good asset and we just got a great piece for a bargain! Kudos to you Kent!!

That’s what it means when you hire proper management
Great 'bridge deal for both until the cavalry ( Hage, Kapanen and Florian Xhekaj) arrive and become contributing players.

Hughes continues to show he is playing chess among a horde of checker players.

There's no doubt that this offer was on the table for at least couple of days now. HIghly doubt it's a case of KH offering more no way the offer was lower that that. There's a good chance KH told Jake's agent his client would be traded if not signed by the TDL and Evans wanted to stay.
No not what I was meaning.
'I've got a deal for you or two' = I have a TRADE for you with Islanders or jersey, do you want to stay or not
Not 'I have other money deals for you'

Armia is an underappreciated player by too many in the Habs fanbase. When he's playing well he's very effective at what he does and he's been doing it quite well since his wakeup call last season after getting waived and sent to the AHL for a couple of stints, which he never once publicly complained about.

This is a thread about Evans though so apologies for going a bit off topic.

What happens with Armia? Signed or not signed? Traded?
It depends on Armia's willingness to take a discount like Evans. What we know now is if he stays, it will be to a team friendly contract and my guess is 2-3 years at something between 2 and 2,5M$.

If he wants to test the market, I'm sure we can get a late 2nd of we retain 50%.

This is not simply great, this his highway robbery. Only 4 years AND below 3M? I'm honestly shocked.
