I was in the trade him camp, but I thought we wouldn't get him signed for less than 4M AAV.

This is a great number and term.

He clearly loves it in Montreal and fits in well with the team. You can see it in the pictures, he's very close with Caufield and Suzuki (our young leaders).

I'd much rather have this deal than a late first round pick.

Completely agree, I am really surprised he did not cash in on a career year, he would have gotten four million no problem in free agency.
