Value of: Jake Debrusk if he decides not to extend with the bruins

Pretty much what the title says, Debrusk is on an expiring contract with a 4 mil cap hit and no trade protection. I assume the bruins want to extend him cause they'd be dumb not to, but if he turns that down they'd kinda be forced to trade him. So what kind of return would he bring?

He had 27G 23A in 64 games played, good for 35 goal 65 point pace over 82 games. And he had excellent defensive statistics, real argument to be made that he was the most impactful forward we had at even strength not named Bergeron or Pastranak.

This thread is gonna be hard.

Bruins fans are going to point out that DeBrusk is a 1st line 5 on 5 goal scorer that can PK and brings it in the playoffs.

Fans of other teams are going to talk about his COVID seasons and the fact that his lack of PP production makes his overall totals not look like a 1st liner.

Bruins should just be working to keep him. He plays the north/south game they need more of and I suspect that as he gets a better role on the PP as Marchand, Bergeron, etc age out, people will be talking about his "late career breakout" like they did when Marchand was finally given a big role on the PP.

Capfriendly doesn't show any trade protections on his current contract.

In a one year rental scenario, I think he's worth 2 good pieces - a first and a b prospect. Signed to an extension, I think it's a first, A prospect and something else.

He was really good this past season and the even-strength analytics suggest this wasn't just a career blip guided by an other-worldly regular season team but a guy who has really broken out.

I suspect he will be a 30 goal, 55-60 point (so let's say his 65 point-pace tails just a bit since he didn't do it over a full season), two-way guy who plays hard and on both special teams units and will continue to be a guy who you really want come playoff time for the forseeable future.

If the Bruins do in fact look at him as a piece to move (a mistake IMO) - he's a guy a club with a real good analytics department and history of targeting playoff type players might spend a pretty penny on to trade for and extend because he's only getting better. He's one of those players that just ticks so many boxes...an elite complimentary top six guy.

He fits the exact mold of what my Avs need with Landeskog out another season and Nuke going through whatever that is....DeBrusk would be perfect to help fill the gap...but I don't think we have the right/enough ammo.

Send him on over to Anaheim :)

This is who I'd like to replace DeBrincat with. The defense on the second line was brutal last year and DeBrusk would be a welcome addition to play with Norris and Batherson to hopefully change that this year. Also no need for an 8M 30-40 goal scorer on the second line. Total luxury.

If we could move DeBrincat for a 1st + 2nd/3rd + 3rd liner I'd happily turn those picks over for DeBrusk and include one of our remaining young guys not on the team full time (JBD, Thomson, Jarventie, etc).

Unlikely trading partners but I would do Nylander for Debrusk +. Or involve a third team and have them send a player to Boston.

As many or more even strength goals than every Hurricane since we switched over to the year 2022.
Completely irrelevant lol. Canes are not a top heavy team and win with scoring throughout the entire lineup and defense. And convenient picking "since we switched over to the year 2022" which means nothing at all. A lot of players on the bruins this year had career years, DeBrusk has been inconsistent throughout his career and anybody trading for 1 year of him will take that into account, not just the past year + a few months. Solid player, but as I said, inconsistent and not worth more than a mid-1st considering he's a UFA in 1 year.

As a Bruins fan, I agree with this 100%

2nd and b prospect maybe? bruins are in a pinch
Not that much of a pinch, they will keep DeBrusk. Guys like Foligno, Nosek, Hathaway, Clifton and Orlov will walk as UFA. Ullmark will be the vezina winner, they can put him up for trade, plenty of teams need help in goal and he would be a huge upgrade for most teams.

we need forwards more than we need a goalie. Swayman will be cheaper. I'd rather spend 8 mill on JD and swayman than 9 million on swayman and ullmark.

I need debrusk in a ducks jersey asap…. We’re dumb for not getting him in the lindholm trade

I see how that scoring through out the entire lineup is working out for you now.............
