Gonna be tough to manage if Primeau isn't qualified/extended somehow. Hughes is UFA and I didn't think he was in any plans, but I don't watch Laval so...Depends what happens with Primeau but doubt he'll want to stick around
He won’t be able in Mtl though. He will wear no.1 in Laval.
But not when he makes it to Montreal...
Primeau is gone barring a miracle and Hughes I think has already indicated he is likely going back to the Swiss league is he not?I'd have to think that the other goalies understand Fowler is penciled in as the starter in Laval for next season. I doubt Primeau will want to stick around for that, but Hughes probably understand his role by this point. He mightre-sign to back up Fowler.
If he didn't want Suzuki, he would have refused the deal. And i've seen Bergevin describing the deal. He said he really liked Glass, and asked about Suzuki to Timmins, because he didn't know him well. It's pathetic how several fans here, always, always try to discredit Bergevin. Everything good during his tenure came from what he received from the previous management, but now, everything good is on Hugues, when this last has received a lot of good players/draft selections/draftees from Bergevin. It’s pretty well known Bergevin asked specifically for Cody Glass and had Vegas said yes, he would’ve been in Montreal. So it is dumb luck even if Suzuki was plan B.

For next season. Folks were hinting at wanting Primeau gone, but if both are gone, that leaves us with a rather annoying hole. You mean now or next year? Because he was signed for 1 year. So he's free to go anywhere he wants after. And there were reports not long ago saying that he was planning to go back to Europe to play next year. I believe he'll go back to Switzerland.
As for now, I think they'll go with the 3 goalies. Fowler will surely get some games, but before he gets in, it'll be Primeau and Hughes.
There's no hole if both Dobes and Fowler are down in Laval next year. For next season. Folks were hinting at wanting Primeau gone, but if both are gone, that leaves us with a rather annoying hole.
Dobes doesn't seem to be any better than Cayden with irregular starts also...
What's a NHL-proven backup right now? Not sure I really see better than Primeau considering his regular starts in the AHL.There's no hole if both Dobes and Fowler are down in Laval next year.
Seems pretty obvious to me that Hugo is going to sign or acquire an NHL-proven backup for next year.
They will trade for an NHL goalie or sign one in free agency imo. What's a NHL-proven backup right now? Not sure I really see better than Primeau considering his regular starts in the AHL.
He sucks the same as Dobes when they don't play enough.
Fowler did lose a lot of his draft year chonk, I don't want him to put it back on now that he's a pro !just keep him away from Monty's snack spread
holy sith batman.. I knew he was doing well, but 19-2???? damn, he's going to be a trade chip this summer, hopefully he wins the MVP of the AHL playoffs.
I would make the argument that he is the best goalie in the AHL and there isn't a close 2nd. He will make his way to another team next year and hopefully he carves himself out a solid NHL career.holy sith batman.. i disagree with you - Monty will remain the starter (until) one of Dobes or Fowler can take the reigns. There is not a "vet" goalie who can be had in summer FA that would do any better than Monty rn...They will trade for an NHL goalie or sign one in free agency imo.
We are leaking goals and they want to be competitive next season. No way they go in again with hopes and prayers in net.
Bergevin had a gap of nearly 5 years where the Habs were not competitive. Of course we’d get some assets from a bad stretch like that.If he didn't want Suzuki, he would have refused the deal. Funny thing is also that most of the fans here also wanted Glass, instead of Suzuki. But now, they blame Bergevin because he wanted Glass
Anyway, i am loosing my time when i am defending Bergevin the monster
and he will, maybe like a Tomas Vokoun type of thing. MTL is the place where goalies shine, play outer worldly.. My belief is the intensity from the crowd keeps goalies focused for the entire 60 minutes. If you're a stud goalie (like Fowler) this is the place to thrive.I would make the argument that he is the best goalie in the AHL and there isn't a close 2nd. He will make his way to another team next year and hopefully he carves himself out a solid NHL career.
