Prospect Info: Jacob Bryson (2017, 99th) signed 3 year ELC, ATO with Rochester

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.
    • Our 2025 light and dark themes were lost, so we are rebuilding them. Light theme is currently available, but work in progress

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

On Friday, Bryson was +3 with 2 SOG and primary assists on the first and sixth goals in PC's 6-5 OT win at SLU.

On Saturday, Bryson was -1 with 1 SOG as PC lost 4-0 at Clarkson.

BC-Providence game has been a penalty fest, so now Bryson decides to get into the action. 2 for crosschecking.

Two favorite moments for me in this game were Bryson breaking up a seemingly dangerous 2-on-1 as calmly as can be, then drawing in as one of the defensemen to close out the game in the final minute of a 1-0 game. He may be about puck movement, but his defensive chops are noticeable.

I want to find a way to discount this kid, but every viewing, he's making smart decisions with his positioning and stick, using his speed, creating with the puck.

Another strong performance, 1 primary PP assist on the Friar's 2nd goal and a lot of time in shutdown minutes. I was only looking in on the 2nd and 3rd around the Gopher's game, but man...he does work at this level.

Some (not) highlights from a 5-2 loss to UMass on Thursday night with a -3. I've found two of the GA's so far.

Yesterday was a different story, two helpers, 3 shots, +2 and some quality specialty teams time.

Anyone have any recent viewings? Looks like he’s tracking for a nice bump in points this year.

I haven't seen him in about a month but he was playing in all situations. He's the high hub on the PP, works on the PK unit, and gets hard minutes late in games. I am not a fan of small defensemen, but this kid can play.

Just to pump his tires a smidge, tied for second in all of HE in assists with 15 in 22 games. Continually impressed with his ability to be where the puck is going, his ability to move it safely when it gets there, and his ability to get to where he needs to be with or without the biscuit.

This guy really intrigues me as a prospect. Is Ryan Ellis a fair stylistic comparison? The size is obvious, but he seems to play a similar game based on what I've read.

I like Bryson's speed at the collegiate level. I'm not sure if I can do a direct comparable but there is more skate to Bryson's game IMHO than Ellis. Ellis has so many plus skills that his being more of an average skater hasn't been much of an issue.

Do you think his size will hold him back?

Perhaps, especially if there is a glut. They can't have a ton of tiny d-men but there is a lot of time for him to develop too. All situation guys are appealing - like Fitzgerald over with BC - but how many sub-6'ers they have in the pro ranks is the question.

Splitting with UConn, both games 3-1 this week. He had a primary ES assist on GF1, then the secondary PP assist on GF2 on Thursday, then on the ice for GF3.

He was on for two GA tonight, GA2 on the PK and then the ENG against late in the game.

I have such a crush on this kid. He is always moving, has his head up, stick in great position... just so good. If only he was a couple inches taller.

Quality minutes, typical all-situations game but no points tonight in a 2-2 come-from-behind tie at Vermont.

Seems like he is having a pretty good year. Would be nice if one of our depth D prospects like him becomes something.

Even the usually solid Bryson had a rough night -- just flubbed the puck at the blueline late in a 1-0 game with UMass Lowell, flubbing away the end of the game. WTH.

On for two goals for (1 ES, 1 PP), nothing against in the Friars' 3-2 win to advance yesterday. He picked up a penalty but helped keep the Black Bears from generating much of anything offensively (outshot them 41-16).
