Not thrilled by it. He's too slow, and was a healthy scratch quite a bit late last year.

Was hoping his rights were traded or he just walked. I assume the 6th D spot will be Prout v Erixon? But we'll see I guess.

I like it. Nothing flashy, but always can step in when needed. A good placeholder until some of our other prospects mature.

Good to hear! Im glad we haven't traded any of Erixon/Golo/Prout. That defesnive depth is crucial. We're almost guaranteed one or two defensemen to be hurt at the same time and we really do need about 8 or 9 capable dmen ready to go.

Good signing. He will be a good guy to have until some of our other D prospects are ready. We really don't have another guy like him right now.

He is definitely an NHL player at this point in his career. He brings things the team's other "depth" d-men don't. Good call (depending on the dollars, I guess). I would think he gets a good chance to earn himself a top 6 spot on next season's roster.

I'm a big fan, loved him 2 seasons ago, looking forward to see him regain that form.

JK, this is not the RFA we were looking for... But it will do.

Now take care of Savard, Erixon, and Johansen please.

I think Prout's best days are still ahead of him. Seemed to have taken a little step back last year. While I don't see him as ever being in a top pairing, I expect him to bounce back and continue his growth.

At a little over a million a year I think this is a good deal. He's a serviceable 3rd line guy that still has upside. Think he'll be better this year than last.

It isn't just a good deal. It is a very good deal. We really don't have any other defensemen like him. This is a very good deal even if he is the 6th or 7th defensemen.

Not to mention he'll be some pretty good trade bait. Most, if not all, clubs would love to have this guy on their roster for that cap hit, even if they just used him as a 7th D as well.

I like new folks.... I agree 100%, Dalton Prout is worse than Erixon and we only saw Exixon once or twice at the NHL level in the last year... What is the love affair with Prout? It seems as if any move the CBJ make is welcomed around here??? Jeez... what happened to truthful critical assessments?

What are you talking about. A few people disliked the Hartnell trade, and almost 100% of posters here flame Jarmo for the Gaborik trade to LA. Truthful critical assessments? I think you're just not looking over your Tim Erixon bias.
