I'm 99% sure Dubois will be better than Duchene and the Avs would be very smart to trade Duchene for him. The only way this trade happens is if Columbus gets impatient and doesn't believe Dubois will develop as a center(he will). The Avs will also have extra cap space next year so they can help Columbus in that regard. This trade would only happen after this year and if Colorado doesn't make the playoffs again there's a good chance a core piece gets moved. Also Dubois fits into the Avs real core much better than Duchene and plays a much more valuable style of game.

I don't think Getzlaf's season last year was anything to write home about. He had some horrendous stretches actually where he couldn't buy a goal. I bet Dubois can achieve that benchmark if not better it. Having as good a career as Getzlaf is obviously a much higher standard - and the chance of Dubois hitting that is understandably lower (10-30%)?

You are not 99% sure, that's got to be hyperbole. I think Duchene is probably close to median expectation for Dubois (Dubois a bit lower in pts but more in defensive play).

Ok fair enough here's a list of C's in the past 5 years to have ≥ 60 pts. Tell me which of them who are also elite defensively PLD can be expected to be as good as:

He was just drafted a few months ago and has yet to even play in a professional game. To make accurate predictions already is absurd, half of those guys you mentioned weren't expected to become what they have a few months after they were drafted.

I love these back and forth arguments about prospects before they've even played an nhl game, it happens with every single highly touted prospect.
