In what world? That sounds like a Peterka extension after his year last year.. not for a guy that was injured all year and has a career high of 14 goals
They had Peterka at 6 yrs @ $7.6M.

They obviously project based on way more than just raw goal numbers.

Can you imagine how mad we would be if Adams had signed Quinn to a long term extension prior to the season?
He couldn't get big money and a term because of his health, or rather he shouldn't have, Adams could of course have given him such a contract. It's good that he didn't give it.

Seems like a bridge incoming unless Quinn explodes for at least half a season.

Do y'all remember when we couldn't wait to get rid of that bust Casey Mittlestatt, or when we were willing to trade the horrible Tage Thompson for a bag of pucks? I don't know what caused me to think of that but it just popped in my head randomly.

Maybe you are assuming we want Quinn out the door already and still expect him to excel?

I still have full confidence in Quinn. You don't lose the ability to think the game well, and you don't lose that shot.

Not calling anyone out in particular but just responding to overreact to slumps or stalls in development. I could have posted this in the Cozens thread as well. Before Mitts and Thompson it was Reinhart. I have been a fan of the Sabres long enough and been on these boards long enough to see this happen to tons of players early in their development.

The problem here is that we don't have time to wait, it's not a rebuilding or development season, Adams seems to be in the hot seat already, and Lindy needs good players to get to the playoffs. This doesn't mean Adams should trade Quinn, we just need to at least understand why Quinn is playing poorly and try to fix it, of course, this should be done mainly by the coaching staff and Jack himself.

Yeah. It's almost like we have a problem where we keep putting young players into positions they aren't ready for and can't succeed at, over and over. And we never learn and we just keep doing it.

Maybe we should try having competent NHL players in those positions on the roster, so that the young guys can play in development leagues or in lesser NHL positions until they are ready?

It would be easy to have competent NHL players in those positions if we stopped trading them away after spending years developing them.

For blustering Adams has done, Quinn actually pretty much earned his NHL spot.

AHL rookie of the year, full AHL year out of junior.

Productive NHL rookie year.

He looked good when he played last year, on a ~55+ pt pace over 27 games.

Quinn has not looked good or been productive this year.

The question is, what can we do and what is best for his long term development at this point.

Mitts always looked promising. Tage with his toedrags? Nope but he did look better before the big injury.

Quinn looks like a frozen turd right now. Poor kid.

In the next cba you should be able to exclude young players that suck from waivers.
He can't handle the puck anymore.
The rule is essentially destroying his career and they need to come up with a way to address situations like this. He needs to be in the AHL right now because he is drowning at NHL level but has far too much value to pass through waivers.
