Just curious as to what his value would be around the league. I think he's a good player and underrated but I've heard others less optimistic about him. Maybe I am high on him because he played at Michigan and feel for him with his parental issues.

Average second pairing guy, way above average third pairing. I could see Columbus moving him to look more at their younger pieces.

I had his value around Ryan Spooner or Gustav Nyquist.

Doubt Detroit would ever do Nyquist for Jack Johnson, Maybe in a deal for Fowler or Shattenkirk. Just don't see Holland ever doing a deal around Nyquist for Jack Johnson though.

The under rating of JMFJ will never cease to amaze me. The guy just
Played in the WC of hockey for the US and is no longer being forced to play #1D minutes when he was always more of a 3D. He's not worth an A prospect but he's on a great contract with only this and next season left on his contract and no type of NTC. He would easily grab a projected late 1st at the TDL this year. He is more likely to get a 2nd and B prospect. Right now though to be honest there is no reason to trade him because we don't have any glaring needs. I'm sure if there was a great trade offer for him or her is an add in for a big deal for a 1C sure but right now... he's just more valuable to us then we could trade him for.

Jack won't be available until Werenski establishes he's a capable top 4D league wide. So probably not for at least 2 seasons. Unless Werenski has a monster season. But even then idk that they'd trade Johnson so soon.

Roslovic straight up.

If serious I do this every day.

Side note though I just realized that JMFJ is actually protection for us in the expansion draft because if he is still here it's likely he is taken. If we trade him we could lose Cam, Anderson, or Korpi and that's not a good situation.

How much salary is Columbus retaining a. Because while I can see teams taking him, I don't see them taking him at full salary or without sending back a contract.

One of the two

4.3m is completely reasonable cap hit for a player of Jack Johnson's ability. Absolutely no reason for Columbus to retain on him, especially when there isn't even a pressing need to move him.

If those guys are better than won't LV take them anyways? I fail to see why you expect LV to pick a worse player.

4.3M cap hit for this year and next for an average second pairing guy? A 2nd with some salary going back to Columbus to offset that hit at most is what I suspect the higher end of value would be.

Trying to understand why LV would take Johnson over those players, but that's not really the point of the thread so...

I suspect Johnson's value around the league is higher among front offices than fans, but probably not enough so to make it worth trading him, when he has a valuable role in Columbus.
