I think Hughes still has the edge, long-term.

I’ve often used Thornton and Marleau as the comparable in terms of first 3-4 years vs. beyond.

This team is gonna be both skilled and big. Valley said it, Kakko plays a heavy game, he’s gonna just dominate you physically in the corners and along the boards. I think he’s gonna be insane in Quinn’s system. Hes a guy who can just dominate the cycle.

Kakko seems like a perfect fit at the moment (big, strong, skilled, et), but Hughes can become great. Jack's really a child, we'll be looking at a different player in 4 years.

I'm warming up to Kakko.

You can't teach size and this "kid" turned 18 only a couple of months ago and is already the size of an elephant. Pair the skillset and the fact that he's already playing pro against men I'd prefer Kaapo.

But I won't cry if we end up with Hughes.

From what it’s worth, scouts still have Hughes first and are fairly adamant Kakko is a wing.

Kakko is a prototypical New York grit type player. I want that. The team is build with a lot of fire power full of youth, it’s a good time.

Kaapo "Mother" Kakko is whom I wanted all along. Wanted to trade up to to get him. I am not sold on the Hughes brothers. Hopefully Devils draft Hughes.

Yeah, they really do. The first time I can really remember it was 1998. RLR report liked Legwand better.

In the internet/social media age, I feel like it’s been happening with greater frequency.

But I also feel like it’s what they say about taking a multiple choice test — you’re first guess is usually the correct one.

In most, but not all cases, when you erase your answer you’re overthinking it.

Wow. A lot of shade thrown at Hughes here and I wonder if that would change if we got the 1st overall pick. Both are tremendous players, and my opinion won’t change on draft day. I would love to have either one.

No lie: a friend of mine who is a Devil fan texted me this morning talking about all the top prospects and I swear I said to him "I'd almost take Kakko over Hughes if the Rangers won the lottery".

That said I would be just as stoked to get Hughes if he falls to us.

Both are going to help speed up the rebuild. Would be nice to have that potential franchise 1C , but Kakko’s size and grit is really something that is needed. I am happy with either to be honest, and to even have a Top 3 pick is truly amazing.
