Anyone with a Matt Rempe avatar probably has never laced up skates

As for the thread, beyond comical anyone thinks he's injury prone based on a play that's injuring 95% of the league's players

The OPs take was ass, going into the boards at that speed with no time to brace or redirect your impact is going to
f*** up most people.

But if a guy keeps on getting hurt (on similar plays mind you) that makes them…. Prone to injury.

Hughes being injury prone isn’t a new thing. This is a feature, not a bug.

Sucks to see. Always hate seeing the leagues best players injured on dumb plays like that.

Devils are 3rd in the division with 20 games left to play and a big 4 point lead on the wildcard team. Curious to see how the team responds to his season being over if they fight and make the playoffs or if they go on a big losing streak and give up

So, never played hockey?

I separated my shoulder and was off the ice for 5 months on a surprisingly similar not that bad, nonchalant impact with the boards.
Are you small? heavier guys with more muscle mass get up from these we see regularly

When a player keeps getting injured over and over again, I wouldn't call them freak injuries.
Could have protected himself better as he was falling.
Imo once falling it’s hard to protect himself at that speed. I’d like him to stop net front. But then he gets hit by a player instead of crashing into the end wall.

Absolutely mind boggling that Wes Mccauley is allowed to ref any of Keefe's games.
Why?

It looks to me like Hughes reached his skate out to redirect the puck while Hanifin stuck his skate out to block the puck or redirect it himself, and they tapped skates. At the same time, Hughes was being pressured from behind by stick lifts from Eichel. I think he just catches his leg on Eichel and skate on Hanifin and loses balance. There was no hit, no intent to injure. Just bad luck and timing.

This sucks. I hope Hughes comes back soon and without lasting effects. I feel for him.

Eichel is a f***ing :eek::eek::eek: and Wes McCauley is the worst ref in the league.
You can't be serious. Eichel did nothing wrong on that play.

Same shoulder, same type of injury, probably same long-term diagnosis. And Vegas is low-key dirty and has been since they debuted in the league with Bettman’s thumb fully on the scale for them, so I’m not giving Jackass Eichel the benefit of the doubt.

Devils won’t make the playoffs now, but what else is new?
There is literally nothing dirty about this. Not remotely.

Looks like Hughes tried to get a skate on the puck, as he couldn't get his stick on it due to being tied up but Eichel. Would normally be fine, but the tight check of Eichel made it so Hughes couldn't get his feet back under him properly, and then he ended up going into the boards on all fours. I don't think there was any penalty on the play, it was just unfortunate. Good players go to the net, and sometimes it's dangerous. Just the way it goes. Hughes is small for the NHL, which makes him particularly vulnerable in falls towards the boards.

Hopefully he's not injured too badly, he's really fun to watch. Part of what makes him so good is his willingness to go to the net.

Yeah, as much as I hate the Devils I do enjoy watching Hughes play. He's a lot of fun to watch. Hopefully he's OK.
