I'd love for someone to use AI to change the Fire Lindy chants to Fire Fitzy.

We might be hearing the real thing soon enough.

If he's fired I wonder if the crack Team USA Hockey people will still keep him around as part of the USA brainrot I mean braintrust for the Olympics.

What a bummer, and I believe it has been less than a year since he had the same shoulder surgically repaired. You’d hate to see a promising career become derailed by injuries.

I believe it's the other shoulder this time.

Don't quote me on that though.

So he's out for the playoffs too?

That's BRUTAL.

You'd think NJ HAS to make a move
I disagree, this team was floundering and losing before Jack went down. I wouldn't invest a thing in this pathetic roster right now for this season.

Fitz missed his window about a month ago to make a move to improve this season.

I think it’s more or less the opposite. When Jack was healthy, they could be viewed as maybe needing to add a relevant body or two, and figure some crap out, and might contend.

Without Jack, even good deadline adds don’t make them any sort of contender. At best they’d be the difference between a playoff miss, a first round exit, or mayyyybe a second round exit if they overachieve.

This seals it that this is NOT a year to sell futures and add rentals. This is a ‘ride out what we got and try again next year’ scene now.

If they make moves now it’s taking in salary (as they did in the Frederic trade) and selling pending ufa rentals like Kovacevic.

He's lucky he's young. I'm in my 30s and I broke my shoulder a couple years ago. It isn't quite the same as before. That's when I realized I am getting older.
I had a really bad shoulder injury couple years ago as well, broke my shoulder and dislocated it in an accident. I train religiously everyday, but it's never quite been the same. Been around 2 years and feels like it's always just been stuck at 90% healed.

The thing with shoulder dislocations, when they happen younger (even in 20s), the chances of the injury reoccurring are very high vs having a dislocation in your 30s when your bones are a lot more dense (from the years of eating)

There was a Ticat player (CFL) named Jesse Lumsden. He was built like a horse but, every time he'd get hit, he'd get hurt.... bad. Made no sense.
oh man. I used to be an eskimos fan. His first game with Edmonton, basically his first carry, out for the season with a separated shoulder. What a disappointment.

Yup.

I remember a game he played against the Blue Bombers. He was amazing and tore thru their defense. A week or 2 later he was injured and out for the season.

This kid is too small. Hes always banged up . He needs to add some size .

I noted in the 4 Nations he really shied away from that playoff hockey type game when it was physical and became a non factor . You don’t win in the playoffs being a wall flower .

Wishing him the best in his recovery though

Sucks cause Hughes really was avoiding contact and not holding on the puck in the dirty areas, which helped him not lose many games due to injury but also trade off a bit off his offense. To get injured in the last 60 seconds of a game is just brutal

Devils should become sellers or stay put, no reason to get anything for this season anymore

They're finished for the season.

I really hate to see it happen, despite the Devils being a rival. Don't wanna potentially benefit that way.

I don't think they miss the playoffs. They have enough of a cushion and they're probably still okay enough to hold off the middle of the league with that cushion even without Hughes.

Once the playoffs start though, I think anyone who would get the Devils in the first round is salivating at the chance. They aren't going to be anywhere near as dangerous without their best player, and they might've not even been dangerous with him healthy. They've been mediocre recently and are at risk of getting caught for third place in the division.

Scratch them off the list of teams that can come out of the east. They definitely shouldn't be buyers either. Maybe not selling, but not worth buying in a year you aren't winning it all.
