The Sabres could really use a player like him.
Didn't they get Tage for him?

Negative, you're thinking of O'Reilly.Didn't they get Tage for him?
But Matthews is older than Eichel. Imagine what Eichel can do at Matthews age!
That was persecution complex sarcasm. What? Matthews was drafted a year after Eichel.
A few of us Coyotes fans were bemoaning the fact that Matthews was born 2 days after the September 15 cutoff date, as he would have been drafted 3rd overall by us (after McDavid and Eichel) had he been born 2 days earlier.
They didn't take him for granted, they just completely failed to build a team around him.Buffalo took this guy for granted and it cost them

Well. You're both right. Buffalo really should have let Eichel get the surgery he wanted. That's what cost them. In hindsight, Eichel made the right call for his health. They didn't take him for granted, they just completely failed to build a team around him.
And a 2C too...Say maybe like a Reinhart or O'Reilly ? That would be some center depth. The Sabres could really use a player like him.
Eichel has a beat up Stone??? You lost me.
Buffalo is just a tire fire. I don't think they took him for granted; they're just a terribly run franchise.Buffalo took this guy for granted and it cost them
I really don't care about Eichel. He can go on to have a HoF career, and I still wouldn't care that he's off the team. He was a weasal here. That being said, I still root hard for Vegas. I <3 that team, and while Eichel's personality sucked- he's a damn fun player to watch. And a 2C too...Say maybe like a Reinhart or O'Reilly ? That would be some center depth.
Eichel actually had already requested a trade in the 2020 off season, privately. He met with the GM and ownership and told them he wasn't going to play through another rebuild. He demanded the team improve asap, or he'd go public with asking for a trade. That's what motivated the Sabres to go out and sign Taylor Hall, to placate Eichel.Well. You're both right. Dahlin is next to request one.Eichel actually had already requested a trade in the 2020 off season, privately. Then the 2020-2021 season happens, the big neck injury and the Sabres came in last place, which prompted Eichel to go from privately requesting a trade to very publicly demanding one.
I actually like Jack...I met him in person with Reinhart and Ennis one night in downtown Buffalo...I told them I was a long time fan and asked for pic with them... while the other two didn't seem interested, Jack made them take a pic with me....I have no problem with Jack...It was the organization that ran him off...I like watching him and Vegas.I really don't care about Eichel. Reinhart, on the other hand, that one hurts. He played his ass off during the end of a lost season his final year here. Granato put him at C, and leaned on him as a veteran leader- to which he responded so well. I was really stoked he may lead our young core, but I don't think he wanted to be part of another rebuild. Mad respect for him, though I hate Florida. Glad he got a cup.
Buffalo did not take him for granted. Buffalo bent over backwards to cater to him, which i think was worse. Eichel has done very well in LV because he isn't the only star player on that team. Also, LV has the night life that eichel never got in Buffalo. Happier players usually equates to better performance.Buffalo took this guy for granted and it cost them
Should have made an attempt to draft him anyway like Florida did when Ovi was coming up in the draft. What? Matthews was drafted a year after Eichel.
