Severson doesn’t really do anything for us. If we’re trading both Pelech and Pageau it’s for picks and prospects.

Is Dvorak the 3rd line center for the Habs? If the answer is yes, then Pageau would be an excellent replacement.

Just my 2 cents on Pelech. You can sort of see his skills diminishing from a few years ago. Not saying it's a terrible contract, I don't think it's in the negative zone yet(not that I think it's worth much in the positive zone either) but he has 5 years left on the deal. Buyer beware basically
Now that being said maybe his skills haven't gotten worse it's just a case the team defensively has gotten worse so all of a sudden he is put in situations his wasn't from like 2018-2021. I still to this day don't understand how our PK went from like top 5 in the league to bottom 2 the past few seasons given we basically have the same makeup of players

I don't see Pageau being moved. He's not good enough at C anymore (he's better as a winger who takes faceoffs) to have value. On the other hand, NYI need centers.

You have in other contexts Isles fans happy to get like a 2nd round pick for Pageau and happy to be rid of Pelech's contract altogether, so I think if the Jackets are taking them without retention and without sending cap back, then Del Bel Belluz is overkill here. There's not many 21 year olds who have done what he's done in the AHL and NHL so far.
That deal feels almost even, but then you think there's a much bigger risk of decline with both Pelech and Pageau. I think the Jackets could use those players but with the risk involved they might balk at including LDBB.
And most realistically the market for Severson and Pelech is going to be very team dependent. Some teams are going to have great use for Severson in their system and some teams are going to have great use for Pelech in their system (if his health holds up), but the chances of it working as a swap are low.
And in Islanders case it probably more a case we have more need for the LHD than the RHD

Thanks. Every once in a while a poster will look at Pageau as a possible 2nd line center and that is way far off.
Excellent third line center, absolutely. Second line center? No way.

With the rising cap, I don't really see GM Darche moving the 1-year guys unless he gets something he likes or he reels in a big fish. Both Lee and JGP had solid years. They will, if healthy, be good guys to move at the deadline if the Isles are out of it. If they're in, you have two long term vets you don't have to pay beyond next June. That's not bad at this point.
