Player Discussion Ivan Demidov: Welcome to Montreal

That's not how you build a winning team. This is not NHL 2025 on Playstation...
Who will be in front of the net ?! You can't just throw names out there and think it will be fine, it's not how it works. Players have different roles on the PP. You don't need 2 snipers, doing the same job, it's redundant.

I'm sorry for you, but Cole Caufield would be the odd man out in that PP.
You don't need Michkov AND Caufield.

The PP would be better with Slafkovsky instead of Caufield for board battles and net presence guaranteed.

Suzuki(left circle) - Slafkovsky (net presence) - Demidov(right circle)

Hutson(left point) - Michkov (right point for the onetimer possibilities)

If Michkov played for the Habs, you trade Caufield for a 2C or a #2/3 RH defenceman...

Geezz... some people obviously lives in a fantasy world...

leafs have no goaltending, but nice try. Also, I don't see what the big deal is they lost to the cup champs, people are so insane with their hottakes. Its not like they lost to the Sens
Leafs have a goaltender. Panthers knew that and took him out. Balls they do not have,

No, Slaf's dad responsed to a tweet that has since been deleted. That tweet was as bad as the one you posted.
What are you taking about?

The tweet was "Slaf should've been there" in reply to the Demidov shooting drill video from yesterday.

The guy deleted his tweet because he probably started getting death threats lol.

Edit :

My apologies, I was not familiar with this tweet.

Sadly anyone can make unfounded accusations and the accusation stays with you.

I mean, if I remember correctly, it wasn't at all unfounded. It was just settled out of court because he's rich.

However, the case and his work ethic and dedication as an athlete are mutually exclusive. So, as an athlete, he's a great idol, as a person, perhaps not so much.

The difference between nowadays (recent past) and back during the Habs' dynasty (or even just Cup-winning) days is humungous.

Some Hab players could have been brought up on rape charges in those days, but it was a different social and legal environment.

I am, and I know better to post idle threats on social media because I'm not a low IQ putz

There are two ways to take this.
1. You won't say it to my face cause I'd kick your ass.
2. You won't say it to my face because you're a coward that hides behind screens

I guess you took it as 1 which is fine. But there's also a possibility that the reality of the situation was 2

My 20 yr old kids don't need me defending them online , they are capable adults who can function when criticized.
The guys son is going to be making tens of millions of dollars and live the life of luxury while playing a game. He isn't curing cancer or splitting atoms. If he thinks that isn't open to discussion by the fans, good or bad, he needs mental help. Social media IS hiding behind a username, every aspect of it. He's doing the same thing. Is he going to fight someone that says 'sure, I'll meet you at the bar and fight you' lol. If he can't handle social media and the good or bad that comes with it , he needs to log off

Anyhooo, enough of this before @OldCraig71 asks me to meet him at O'Flaherty's Bar to fight him again

“Ivan has already grown fond of Montreal and wants to get to know the city, its culture, and its people better, which is why he chose to spend the summer here,” a source close to Demidov shared with RG.

But this isn’t just about sightseeing. Staying in Montreal gives Demidov the opportunity to train intensively under the watchful eye of the Canadiens’ development staff. After a season of adapting to the faster pace of the NHL, he’s now focused on building the strength, endurance, and situational awareness required to thrive at the highest level. It’s a crucial period for a player projected to be a key piece of the Canadiens’ future.

What’s just as important to Demidov as his physical preparation is his integration off the ice. The 18-year-old isn’t simply trying to fit in—he wants to belong. That’s why his summer plans include a dedicated push to improve both his English and French.

Russians feel at home in Montreal. This is an advantage we have, we should draft more Russians, especially with the Bobrov connect. Plus the fans love skilled Russian players after the Kovalev & Markov era. It is a match made in heaven.

We should do like Detroit in the 90s and have our own special Russian 2nd unit.

^Although to be fair we do draft quite a bit of Russians.

I wonder if something like finding an obscure skilled Russian center and turning him into a D would work, like we did with Andrei Markov.
