Player Discussion Ivan Demidov: Welcome to Montreal

Demidov is just on of those players that you know will get scoring chances. On the PP if you play passive on him he will take the room and if you move up he will deke you.

I can't wait until he doesn't have to play with guys like Evans and Newhook anymore. He barely ever gets to touch the puck 5 on 5

I agree, he needs high IQ and skilled teammates with him. I hope Kent does the needful this summer to surround him on the second line if they won't break the first line.

I'd really try hard to get Marner and a big power forward à la Rick Nash to complete the line.

P.s. I would also try to get somehow our hands on Tage Thompson.

I could really see a line like Marner - Thompson - Demidov

Well sir, that would be an insane first line, but I have no idea how you get Thompson. Buffalo asked for Caufield or Slaf just for Cozens.

I have not heard about it you are right, but it wouldn't surprise me. Buffalo would not of traded Cozens without any valuable established young replacement up front and I imagine it be the same for Thompson.
Josh Norris is a broken down bum, closer to Kirby Dach than Slafkvosky or Caufield. This rumour is another bit of cope from Habs fans to feel good about missing on a player.

Thompson would cost too much, that’s for certain.

What else would Buffalo ask for if they made it clear they wanted a legit top 6 guy back.
This is the difference between empty conjecture and established facts.

Brunet knew the Habs were interested in Cozens. Cozens is traded for Norris. Brunet makes a conjecture: BUF recieved a top6 roster player, he therefore makes the conjecture that it would cost the same from the Habs and produces this turd of a piece: BUF wanted Caufield or Slafkovsky.

Don't fall for it -- it fails every test.

Only 8 and a half minutes of even strength play from him last night, but the statistics look insane for a 19-year old rookie playing against the #1 seed in the East

I think just him having this experience and understanding where he stands against legit NHL competition is huge for next season. Now he knows exactly what he needs to work on this offseason and I think it will allow him to have an even better rookie season than he would've otherwise.

Do we know if he is staying in MTL for the summer to train?

We can hope that he stays and trains with the organization watching closely.

What a player he will become...

Much like Hutson, Demidov has started to come alive in the series. We've thrown him directly into the fire by saying "here ya go kid.. you've never played in this league but here's the hardest environment. Good luck." and he's done as well as you can expect for a 19 year old.

We'll get the full Demidov experience next season when he gets a full camp with the team and he plays regular season hockey. But he's done fine for where we've put him.
