Value of: Ivan Demidov VS 2025 1OA

MTL hasn't had a real game breaker since Lafleur, you think now that we potentially have 1 he's gonna get moved?

We also have Reinbacher/Mailloux/Engstrom coming up, Schaefer is a stud but that's just bad asset management. If anything i'd package our pick + other assets to move up to 3-5 for Misa/Frondell.
I dunno kovalev when he wanted to could be a game breaker. Guy was just lazy as fk

Sorry to veer this off topic, but that was true Of Malakhov as well. When he wanted to play he was such a unique and dominating presence on the blue line. His skating was powerful and effortless and his speed was top notch. His skills were amazing; bomb of a shot, fantastic passing acumen and he could lay a check. In the era of clutch and grab and the trap, he could carry the puck into the offensive zone with ease. He got into a scrap, I believe it was against the Islanders. He was pissed and he just beat the absolute tar out of the guy. He didn't just chuck knuckles like a lot of guys do. He was jabbing like a boxer, it was unreal.

He should have been a perennial Norris candidate, but he just didn't give a crap. He was lazy and dogged it. Just there for the paycheck. Hands down for me the player with the most talent and skill who did the least amount possible with it.

Montreal are on a big skid right now and I hope it goes on like this until the season ends. We really need to pick in the top 3 to get Schaefer, Hagens or Misa and then the rebuild is finally complete. This thread would be irrelevant if we pick in the top 3 this year and already have Demidov. Only time will tell. Speaking of Demidov, I think that if he really reaches his maximum potential, he will be like Kucherov or Kaprizov, at worst I see him being like a Kyle Connor type player who's still really good but not top 5 in the NHL.

The worst you see is Kyle Connor?? Hes a 35-40 goal PPG guy.

Could be. But it seems like he’s pretty much thought of as the number 1 guy. For the actual team scouts maybe not.
I mean his consolidated rank is #2, We'll see where he ends up going but I don't think he's a surefire 1st OA at all. I remember when Seth Jones was viewed ranked #1 around this time too but ended up dropping to 4th. Same thing happened to Shane Wright a couple years ago. Hell even last year it was projected that all the top defensemen would be gone by like pick 7 but instead we got a string of forwards and Parekh, Silayev, Dickinson, and Buium fell to 9th through 12th

Hard to say. But demidov is looking like an elite two way player. Is the top prospect projected to be elite? Who is scouting the next #1 over all on here?
