Value of: Ivan Demidov VS 2025 1OA

...Habs aren't trading him...so why??...
He's not currently in the NHL, so there is uncertainty about his real NHL upside. What if Chicago or whoever drafts 1OA has a crazy idea that they rather gamble on Demidov and offers 1OA for Ivan? It's a hypothetical question of course... just trying to gauge how much an asset like Demidov, who is trending very well but is not in the NHL, would be worth.

MTL hasn't had a real game breaker since Lafleur, you think now that we potentially have 1 he's gonna get moved?

We also have Reinbacher/Mailloux/Engstrom coming up, Schaefer is a stud but that's just bad asset management. If anything i'd package our pick + other assets to move up to 3-5 for Misa/Frondell.

...sure, I get it...but Hughes went to Russia to see this kid and was more than impressed...and this isn't supposed tyo be a killer draft year...

This highly skilled stud muffin was drafted 5OA and so far has justified that ranking, and then some. How much would a team be willing to shell out for one of, if not the, most prized asset not currently in the NHL?

Would a team drafting 1OA in 2025 do a one for one swap?

Untouchable!

There is no realistic trade to be made.

That would be the same case with the draft pick you’re asking if they can get in return for him so what’s the point?

I doubt Montreal would trade Demidov for the 2025 1st OA.

Well, Chicago tried to trade their unprotected 2025 1st + a 2nd to take Demidov at the draft and couldn't.

Celebrini is good but Demidov should've been 1st overall last year and would easily be this year. The number of teams scared of drafting Russians just blows my mind. Still can't believe both Michkov and Demidov fell like they did.
that's going a bit too far, Celebrini is already proving his draft rank at the highest level, going PPG at 18 in the NHL is insanely hard

I'd trade Demidov for Celibrini and I'm a habs fan. Hopefully you are right, I just think Celibrini impacts the game more as a center.

May as well create one of these threads for Reinbacher too.

Reinbacher vs 10th OA

Is he even worth a top 10 pick any more? How much has his value dropped since the habs selected him way too high when players like Michkov were still available?
Meh, why do that when he's been injured all year.
He didn't have much of an opportunity do to himself justice the past 2 season (absolutly terrible team last year)

Yeah I guess as a Habs fan, Schaefer would be ahead of Demidov, but the injury is a small worry and we are all pumped to have Demidov, so status quo is far too good to look elsewhere.
I would be too. Demidov is a premium player. Zero need to trade him.
