That journo should get banned from the room for the rest of the season and playoffs. The habs are too soft with the shit disturbers.
no wonder everything that comes out of Engels mouth is sunshines and lollipops

Believe it or not, the buzz reminds me of Guy Lafleur. I was a young kid, but I remember the insane level of excitement about this young phenom who was supposed to be the Habs' next superstar, heir apparent to the recently retired Jean Beliveau. I had two posters over my bed in the early 1970s – Lafleur and Dryden, so new that both were wearing temporary numbers on their jerseys. I couldn't wait for him to take over the league!

And then Lafleur got off to a mediocre start; in fact, it took him a couple of seasons to hit his stride. Imagine the sulking in the media. Now add social media and multiply that by a thousand. Man... good thing Demidov doesn't understand English or French well...
How do you say " boo " in Russian ?

Kidding, just kidding. Nobody is boing this young man , I just saw the chance to make a funny.

I also wonder if there’s anything to the fact the last town he crossed before the Atlantic was Thurso? (Re: Guy Lafleur) :sarcasm:

They’ve all been NHL sized since 2022, last teams to switch were Kunlun and Dinamo Riga
Another fun fact: NHL arena dimensions go back to a Montreal rink from the 19th century.

The Victoria Skating Rink was located between Stanley and Drummond streets, right in the heart of downtown Montreal. The first hockey game was played there in 1875, and it hosted the first Stanley Cup playoff game in 1894.

The distance between those two streets was adopted as the standard for hockey rinks, and is now accepted worldwide.

Very cool, SKA also modeled the new arena after the Bell Centre

Montreal is so insanely influential in global hockey it’s actually pretty crazy

That's actually my favorite english Celine song. Never around the homies though.
Bro. I'm old as f*** now according to young people and do not give one shit about being cool. I will sing whatever I want wherever I want and I will call my friends gay if they don't sing backstreet boys with me. Kids have broccoli on their head they can't judge me.

Agreed. The fans and the media turned on Lafleur. He was booed at games because he wasn't an instant superstar. It was shameful really. Many felt sorry for him. God help Demidov if they do the same thing to him . There's far too much hype.

The 90s and other high numbers have been popular for a long time. Especially with early Russian stars like Bure, Mogilny and Fedorov. It’s that weird shit in like the 30s-60s nobody wants that they give to rookies.

Bure absolutely did not like his 90's number. He wore #10, then switched to #96, but he didn't do well in that number, suffered a couple of injuries, and changed back to #10.

Fedorov only wore #91 because he greatly admired Steve Yzerman, and when he arrived in Detroit, the equipment manager for the Wings asked Fedorov what gear he wanted, and he said he wanted everything the same as Yzerman. The trainer took that request literally and gave him the exact same equipment, right down to the same numbers on his sweater.

Mogilny, of course, didn't have a number in the 90's. He wore #89, the year he defected. (He was also drafted 89th overall.)

Those days are over. Pretty much a walk in the park today, nobody ever gets booed.

Nobody has been booed because the expectations had been lowered to almost zero during the rebuild. The boo birds will eventually return.
Booing the team is one thing, singling out one player I don't ever see happening again.
