Russians have a weird "ewey" sound for mee and dov something like "demeweidoiv" but i think we can day. Yhr former, lol.

Nobody is pronouncing it Rein-bahrh-er or Koh-pah-nen

Most European players' names (Quebecois too) are butchered in English. Different letter combinations, silent letters, or sounds that don't exist in English can be difficult. So "anglicization" is normal.
But, yeah, names like Romanov and Demidov are rather straight forward. I have no idea why people put the stress on the first syllable... although Romanov is more like ra-MA-nov

Lapierre always pumps the tyres of third- and fourth-liners… because he was one.


Demidov on Line 2 — let him do his thing. He’ll unlock Newhook and Laine, no f***ing doubt about it.


PP: Demidov replaces Slafkovský, and that’s it.


Everything else is working perfectly. We’re currently one of the best teams in the NHL, and the key is simple — don’t mix it up, don’t f*** it up.

I know they've had those pronounciations for a long time, but I cringe everytime I hear Americans say Des Plaines, Des Moines, Bute, Boise and so on. Arrrgh
