Also Lebrun,
Demidov's dream has always been to play in the NHL. It seems SKA went through a 5 step grief process. They accepted at some point he was leaving, which seems to have been a hard pill to swallow and then SKA really started helping him even after regular practices (including Rotenberg).
My speculation after what Lebrun said is that if there was any money exchanged it would have been money out of Demidov or his agent's own pocket.
SKA and Rotenberg coming out of this as the good guys is almost too funny

Wonder how much of his signing bonus went to SKA😂
I know we joke (not all  ) the negotiations were monetary driven, however, and I say this in hindsight, I really believe SKA's demands were that Demidov's rights remain with SKA outside the NHL.

Let's be honest, I don't think any percentage of Demidov's contract will make any difference to SKA's budget.

Always found Slaf Meh on the PP, get Demidov on the first unit.
I edited the post, but slaf is good, he improved his speed, quite big in front of the net, and his a much better passer than at the start of the year imo

No seriously, it's not even funny anymore either. Just the fact we can look back at demidovs numbers and he was highly restricted of ice time to reduce his development? Such a disgusting look for some ppl

I do agree with that. There should be a real threat from the left handed player on the right side of the net, to either take a shot or to play it into the slot or crease. Especially when PK's sacrifice one guy to sit on Laine, there's a lot of room close to the net for all kinds of offense. I don't think Slaf is helping when it comes to that. Demidov would maybe create a bigger threat on the right side of net.

Most of the puck handling is Suzuki, Hutson and Laine on that PP.

RR's getting lots of flack in Russia right now for a few issues, one of them is his usage of Demidov... IMO he used Demidov all wrong, but SKA's problem was they were a defensive disaster. No level of offense could have ever helped that team.

Pretty wild praise, best player out of Europe since Barkov. That was over a decade ago. Adding a once-in-a-decade player to a core that already includes a once-in-a-generation defenseman and a few other really good pieces would be incredible.
The pressure on this kid is going to be out of this world. I feel bad for him. I hope he finds success quickly here, we all know he has the skills.. but this is the most amount of pressure on any prospect in recent memory at this point.

Not saying he sucks, but Demidov is way more creative, would make Laine and Caufield looks good.
While I agree, my point is slaf is still improving, still gaining exp in critical situations, I would not take that away from him,

Besides, maybe its the best thing to do, because pp is really short time not like a long race, so not much need to split the talent, Id want to hit hard and fast with all we got, in that sense maybe he should be on the 1st pp

And this is when I realize that Gritsyuk and Nikishin haven't been freed yet (from what I can find).

That's like the total opposite of what everyone expected 2 days ago.
Which is an indication that Demidov and his agent threw everything and the kitchen sink to get him out. Maybe they even got loans out to pay SKA. Just speculating. But who knows? IDK that Carolina or New Jersey can do much on their own.

YOu know... there is a player that has quite a bomb from the point. He is currently service time though...

Demidov supposes to be as good as Celebrini, more or less. Adding a player of this caliber at this time of the year is a great boost to the team. Oh boy, it will be a great spring !
I don’t think he as as good but he arrived in a way better situation

Someone said he was the only reason why Caufield and Suzi were any good. I’m responding to that mostly.
How about I try to interject here. Slaf has been easily the best choice as the third player on that line out of all the people we have tried, and he makes the line better than it would otherwise be. This is taking NOTHING away from Suzuki, who's been marvelous!

Suzy is 5th in the NHL in points among Canadian forwards. Only guys ahead of him are:
Mackinnon, McDavid, Crosby and Marner!

I would play Demidov on the first PP and manage his minutes at 5vs5. At this time of the year, the tempo and lvl of play might be hard for him to just come in and jump in action. Having him performing on the first unit can be good for his confidence but it could pissed off Slaf. Ultimately in the future both Slaf and Demi gonna be on the first unit. I dont see the habs resigning Laine.
