maybe my 1st Hab game in MTL will be next year!!!! I have never been
GO!! It’s such a blast! I’ve only been twice, once in 2018 when we beat the Capitals and this past Saturday when we beat the Flyers. The vibe is awesome! I had tears in my eyes as the players came out.. video, the music, the players, the anthem, the chills, the sound of the sticks on the ice, the roaring when we score. Definitely got to do it once!

If he's a player who thrives under the spotlight and likes attention, there isn't a better place in the league than Montreal.

Hughes didn't admit to much in the TSN interview, acting like his usual "I'm unaware of the details" style that he seems to employ in most interviews/pressers.

One would have to think that the management team increased the pressure on SKA to get him here because we are making the playoffs, and they felt it would be the best time to have him make his debut.

I haven't watched him like most of you have, but I do remember reading a journalist's comparison between Demidov and Mogilny, saying that both had a similar style of play. If that is correct, we can look forward to some dazzling plays and goals, and we will be contenders for a long time with the core in place and adding a player of that magnitude.

Great article from Basu today about what the arrival of Demidov means to montreal fans. A tid bit here:

“We don’t want to put too much expectations on (Demidov), we’re talking about a 19-year-old kid travelling across the world to come play,” Hughes told TSN. “Hopefully he gets a game in or two before playoffs, if we are able to make them, and we’ll see how he fits in. We’ll play it by ear.”

Sorry. Too late.

Expectations on Demidov will be through the roof as soon as he pulls on that Canadiens sweater, because of just how excited Hughes and his scouting staff were to draft Demidov to begin with, because of how closely large pockets of the Canadiens fan base were following his every move in Russia this season, and because of what he represents for the future and, suddenly, the present.

I don't see the Mogilny comparison.
Alex was speed based game.

Max Lapierre on the Sick Podcast last night said he would play him with Evans because he believes Evans will ensure to cover for Demidov while he adjusts. Even if Demidov plays around 10-12 minutes + PP time, he will get his 15 minutes.

His reasoning for not putting him with Newhook and Laine is mainly because one guy is going 150 miles an hour while the other is going 30. So there is a pacing discrepancy there.

I don't find his reasoning crazy. But at the same time, you will surely be tempted to play him with someone like Laine, who might play a slow pace, but he can score on a dime.

You can have Evans center Laine and Demidov. But his point about Newhook centering Demidov to start off is a good one.

We dont have to overthink it. We need offence. Put him with the most offensive players we have left beside the first line.

I'd be OK with Evans at C but I'd put Laine on that line.
