The way I see it:

Caufield - Suzuki - Slaf
Demidov - Newhook - Laine
Anderson - Dvorak - Gally
Kapanen - Evans - Armia

Makes perfect sense to me.

While the second line is likely going to struggle defensively, leaving the lines as they are does allow us to shelter that trio pretty easily. Newhook is a straightforward player to work with, Laine is either going to be an anchor or a great complement. I can see them being dangerous off the rush. I think this is as good of a situation to put Demidov in as we can offer for the time being. Getting him with higher IQ players may be something we aim for next season.

I'm mostly curious to see Laine with some talent on a consistent basis. He won't be focused on so much and Demidov with his offensive talent with him would be great.

Maybe he’ll be working with Marc Bureau at practice — while playing wing in games, to ease himself into the lineup.

He seems to have the skill and awareness to play centre but quite obviously, he’d need reps and this is not the best time. He’ll have the summer to tackle it. I do believe Demidov has said that he’d be open to it.
