Prospect Info: Ivan Demidov (2024 5th OA): SKA St. Petersburg (KHL)

Unpopular opinion but Mesar is fully capable of following Demidov's rhythm.

Its a shame we'll probably never get to see it.

Also i think Demidov is easely going to be the best offensive player from Day 1 so im nto sure why we would play him on the 2nd line rather than the first one?
Bro mesar is dogshit

As a rookie, better to keep him away from biggest defensive responsibilities until he gets accustomed to the pace of the game.

Not saying Demidov won't be on 1st line, but needn't rush him there either. Also, spreading out the fire power will never hurt as Demidov could. being confidence to Slaf, Laine or someone else's game and bring them to a new level for their future play.

The level of talent of Demi will be undeniable.
And you get 3 years of low cap from him, better maximise it
Easy answer..... nope

Im pretty sure too

He 100% has regressed visually but he dint get his opportunities this year after the injury. The team is visibly trying to punish him for the stuff he said last summer and the resistance he offered throughout his journey. Its the only explanation i see.

Mesar shines on a offensive role. So asking him to play physical and not be the driver on a third line, thats going to affect his game. He looks bad without the puck in general but saying he doesnt have the offensive talent to play alongside Demi is madness and uninformed.

I can appreciate that you want to support your guy, but this is delusional. Dude was barely a ppg player in the OHL in his D+2 year. At no point, anywhere in his career, has he demonstrated anything to suggest he's suited to an offensive role, especially in the NHL. Demidov is perhaps the most talented player the Habs have seen in 40 years, and you want to play him with a guy who couldn't even manage 20 goals in the OHL? That's literally insane.

So Mesar scores 4 pts in his first OHL game
Avgs 2 pts per game for the first 20 games in his second OHL season
Scores 3 pts in his first "real" AHL game and leads the team in pts for the first 5 games playing on the third line with 2nd wave PP duties.

Does that not at least tickle your curiosity as to how is this "bust" doing so well every time he's given the opportunity?

I am personally disappointed with some of the decision he's made and his overall body language and body of work on the ice, specially after his injury. But we need to be fair with the way we criticize him. We gotta take his usage into account and so far he's not been used alot.

All i know though is that every time i have doubted him he proved me wrong.

So yes based on what i have seen so far the last 3 years i do believe hes got the talent to play with Demidov eventually and do well.
